This chic creates loops with a snare drum, other various percussion, and a ukelele, among other instruments. Her voice is interesting and there is a sax section. I think they would be awesome live.

Anyone else listen to the Tune Yards? Or care to offer any opinions? They have two albums out. I haven't really given either a listen, just excited about the two songs below I've heard:

Yeah, she's great! I haven't heard the first album, but I love the second album. It's like a deconstruction of afro-pop.

WHOKILL might be my favorite album of the past few years, honestly. It's not perfect or anything, but it sounds exactly how I think more modern music should sound like. Just a great production style to me. Haven't heard the first album all the way through, though, but I at least liked what I heard...just not as much as the second album.

Thanks for moving my post. My searches are always ineffective. :/

Afro-pop is my favorite sound, so it's no surprise I've latched onto this. I downloaded WHOKILL earlier today; going to give it a proper listen this week. I look forward to it.

An interesting mix here. My Morning Jacket meets the Tune Yards.

^^ Yeah, they've been on repeat for me since I found them. "Bizness" is one of my favorites as well. I would love to go to a show

Great performance, this is my first time hearing them and they sound good and it's nice to see their songs are portable and they can play them live.

considering the kind of music they make you would think it's all studio tricks but it seems they can recreate it live.
