I like him. He's very talented, and can write a hook in his sleep. I've only seen him live via the Dead Weather.
His cover of U2's Love is blindness is stellar. It's one of my favourite U2 songs, and he knocked it out of the park. |

With Jack White I'm almost unsure where to begin. I remember first hearing The White Stripes one night when I was much younger watching some awards show or another. I was pulling for some song or another to win some award or another and remember being upset because "Fell In Love With a Girl" won instead (which I didn't get at that moment and thought it was stupid). Sometime after that I began hearing them on the radio and had to have matured abit because I was starting to dig them.
Years go by and I'm gifted their debut albulm (OK so it was actually a cd) by somebody who had bought it on a recommendation and didn't care for it. They asked if I wanted it and was like absolutely. When I first put it on I was forever hooked. I had become abit of a blues man at that point and hearing that albulm struck a real chord with that. To make what is becoming a long story shorter (because I could go on n on) Jack White is my second favorite musical act (at least overall, not as crazy about his Dead Weather stuff although I still enjoy it.) behind Zeppelin. It is his rawness, his silly simple lyrics, his killer riffs, his voice full of imperfections (my wife can't stand listening to him because of that lol.), it's all of what he is as a musician and all of what he isn't. I love his constant screams for attention in anyway. He is like a carny at a sideshow doing whatever he can to get a sucker to come up n lay a dollar down. He is constantly selling himself and his art and that becomes part of the art. I think Fear of the Dawn is the best piece of work he's done overall period, I've stated elsewhere on these boards I believe it's a sonic masterpiece. I didn't care as much for Entering Heaven Alive but I do think "If I Die Tomorrow" is one of the best songs he's put period. So my opinion of Jack White? Yeah he's pdg. (And btw I did cut this alot shorter because unlike when I was younger I don't have the time to go on n on forever about this kind of stuff lol). |

I am not a HUGE fan but I think he is remarkably talented. I love his raw energy with creative experimentation. His new album shows his abilities to push the boundaries while also staying true to his rock roots.

I like Jack White, too, although I'm more into the music of Olivia Jean, his wife. I was into her music long before she married White. I've seen her live a couple of times, most recently in January 2020, just before COVID hit. That was the only show I saw in 2020.
