Very interesting choice, almost everyone would choose their debut over their sophomore. I'm curious why you chose that one when, as you said it yourself, your list is very typical.

Urban Hat€monger ? 06-23-2012 05:38 PM

1. The Fall - The Real New Fall LP
2. The Fall - Fall Heads Roll
3. The Fall - Reformation Post TLC
4. The Fall - Imperial Wax Solvent
5. The Fall - Your Future Our Clutter

What a great decade it's been.

Bloom 06-26-2012 01:32 PM

its just a fairly standard list isnt it?

favourite worst nightmare is incredible, it has the perfect mix in my eyes. short catchy indie pop songs in the first half, perfectly built up songs with crashing guitars in the second half. It also has 'if you were there beware' and '505' two of my favourite songs ever.

2. The Antlers "Hospice"
3. Arcade Fire "Funeral"
4. The National "High Violet"
5. We Were Promised Jetpacks "These Four Walls"

I don't consider Radiohead to really be an indie rock band, but they were mentioned so why not...

Forward To Death 06-26-2012 06:20 PM

They aren't indie, but they sort of sounds like an indie rock band.

These Four Walls was okay. Wouldn't say it's in the top 5.
The sound kind of drones on you after a few listens, Quiet Little Voices and Ships With Holes Will Sink are still quality tracks though.

St. St. 06-27-2012 11:01 PM

In no particular order

Time Capsules II by Oberhofer
Album by Girls
Father, Son, Holy Ghost by Girls
Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me is Gone by The Walkmen

I think it's an excellent, memorable album throughout. Certainly rough around the edges, but that's part of the appeal for me.

The Thrill's debut album is excellent but sadly they have become a bit of a laughing stock in ireland.

I love that so much nice to see another of it:yeah:

I taught their second album personality... was a good follow up but lacked the song craft of Lovers. This Day, Good Dancers, Vampire racecourse,Rain falls for wind and Morning rain are just a few of the great songs on the album. Sadly overshadow by Luke steele's side project Empire of the Sun.

joy_circumcision 07-26-2012 03:51 PM

125, Rue Montmartre: Safari (emo)
Boris: Boris at Last -Feedbacker- (drone doom metal)
Panda Bear: Person Pitch (psychedelic pop)
James Ferraro: Last American Hero / Adrenaline's End (ambient)
Hunx and His Punx: Gay Singles (garage rock)

though the label is so randomly applied that these might fall outside of what the OP intends

one of the better tried-and-true consistent indie rock loves. always find a way to add them into my year-end lists.

I thought their last one (Suck It and See) was their best album. The other 3 didn't grab me at all.
