i have only heard about pavement and that they were the indie band of the 90s or something, so comparing them to interpol? i just don't get it.....

Trauma 01-24-2006 02:00 PM

Pavement my dear.

Expletive Deleted 01-25-2006 08:07 AM

I can't believe this thread is even here. Pavement by a looong shot.

soundgardenrox 01-26-2006 05:38 PM

Pavement is greater than interpol by far.

Dross 02-13-2006 06:03 PM

pavement

Sneer 02-14-2006 06:41 PM

pavement are perhaps the only band who's sound can be truely described as "indie". they are the benchmark.

Pink City 02-18-2006 06:46 AM

to hard to decide. interpol are awesome. pavement are more indie though.

venn diagrams 03-07-2006 07:46 PM

this is hardly even a question. pavement is legend. period.

DearJenny 03-09-2006 07:48 AM

Pavement. I like "Stereo" and "Serpentine Pad"
Also like their cover of Echo and the Bunnymen's "Killing Moon"
Brighten the Corners and Wowee Zowee are great CDs.

IndiElectronica 03-09-2006 10:39 AM

been listening to a lot of pavement again lately...

jambo 03-11-2006 02:03 PM

Pavement has the rep. but Interpol is much less boring. However, Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead plays a mean harmonica on Pavement's Terror Twilight- "platform blues" and "billie"

smoke_buds 03-11-2006 03:51 PM

damn... pavement big time ! and the comparaison is no good, I mean, pavement released how many album ? like 10, and Interpol ? like 2... anyway, interpol is ok but pavement is one of my favorite band ever !

TrampInaTux 03-15-2006 04:03 PM

Pavement. who wants to listen to Interpol? A group who stole everything from Bauhaus to try and make it big. Pavement even sounds better.

IndiElectronica 03-16-2006 04:03 AM

funny - as this thread keeps going I keep subliminally putting on Pavement at home... it's great stuff!

I imagine the people saying interpol are too young to know pavement much... if that's not the case then I question their sanity...

TrampInaTux 03-16-2006 12:33 PM

I'm to young to know Pavement that well, correct. I haen't heard many songs from them, and have heard more from Interpol and can remember thinking that Interpol sounded quite cool while Pavement didn't really appeal to me. I'll look them both up again and make a second opinion, then come back to you with my final verdict.

glad to hear. i would say crooked rain, crooked rain is the best album to really introduce you (or re-introduce you) to pavement. even though slanted and enchanted is their first and is a great album, they hadn't totally established the "pavement sound" yet. it was heavily inspired by the fall (the band, not the season). next best choice, i think, is the album brighten the corners.

IndiElectronica 03-16-2006 02:31 PM

i always recommend slanted and enchanted to most people as first album...

i can't argue with any stance that is pro-pavement. just my preference.

IndiElectronica 03-17-2006 03:02 AM

:)

IndiElectronica 03-17-2006 03:03 AM

to be honest - i recommend if you are just starting to get the re-release of both 'slanted...' and 'crooked...'. Both 2 cd sets and may as well save money and buy it now - rather than have 2 copies of them ;)
