anyone who thinks Interpol are better should have their head examined. While I do like Interpol (not so much there last album though), Pavement are one of the bands that defined Indie and have had tons of influence on other bands. Pavement are (were) much better live too...

I can only assume that anyone that chooses Interpol is quite young and wasn't around during Pavements day.

*has head examined*

Maybe you are right though...While I have heard all of Pavements material, its true i was never around to see them alive, or see the full influence of the band while they where still alive and kicking, but then I still prefer older bands like Joy Division, or Echo And The Bunnymen over Interpol and Editors, I just think theres more emphasis placed on Pavements influence rather than their music.

I prefer Joy Division or Echo more then both myself too... but Interpol v Pavement is a no brainer... Pavement were a lot more original as well (no one said Pavement sounded just like x whereas Interpol are constantly compared to Joy Division)

I'm fairly sure that Pavement were very closely compared to The Fall, it's evident mainly in their earlier stuff though. They were still one of the most creative musical forces ever to set foot in a studio.
