no actually, sorry, i was a bit vague, some snotty bitch on a croatian forum was raving about xiu xiu and the unicorns so i checked out xiu xiu, and the guys voice and style of singing pissed me off....metric however are fucking awsome, i heard that the second album totally blows though, i'm still downloading it so i can't comment, apparently they totally changed their sound, and it didn't turn out too well....

EDIT: i downloaded metric's live it out, and i couldn't agree more with the amazon reviewer, the added guitars ruined everything, instead of catchy electro-pop tunes we got a yeah yeah yeah's clone, and it sucks balls.....the difference between the albums is astonishing, and it's a real shame because i really love the first one....

Some comments...

I prefer the new Metric to the debut. Old World Underground, blah blah blah didn't even pick up until halfway into it, where I liked Live It Out from the start. Neither album really wowed me, though.

I think Xiu Xiu is amazing, but definitely more of an acquired taste.

The Unicorns are great. In fact, I was just about to recommend them in your electro-pop thread, adidasss. Give em a chance, you'll probably love them.

oh..really......damn....but that would mean i would have to admit that i'm wrong......shit.....thanks for the heads up, i'll check them out.....( i was actually assuming they're similar to xiu xiu, that's why i discarded them )

I love Metric and The Unicorns. The Wrens and The Walkmen are good when I'm in the mood and Xiu Xiu has just rubs me the wrong way.

I like Xiu Xiu, but I think they're like an aquired sound, so to speak. I had to listen to them a few times before fully appreciating their unique sound.

the walkmen i can say is a group i like, i do really like the stuff from their bows and arrows album.
with metric i really like Old World Underground(thanks adidasss) and their single that's out now monster hospital, but i haven't heard anything more from them.
the unicorns are awesoome! i really like practically everything about them, but they did break up and form Islands, i heard the album and it does sound islandsy and you can totally hear them, i think Return to the Sea is a good album, the songs are a bit longer and there's a rap on one of the songs. all in all i think listening to it would be an adventure.
with Xiu Xiu and the Wrens i just really haven't gotten round to listening t it. my five minutes.
