Default A first Hello from Dublin..!

Whats the craic everybody??

This is looking like a great site, I'm a big music fan, really into anything from folk to rap and everything in between- good music is good music whatever it is.....

I suppose my long trusted cornerstone of music would be Bob Dylan if I was to pick one ...but it all depends on what day you get me on

I have to be honest as well about my joining this site which is not solely for pleasure - I'm a Post-Grad Digital Marketing student at Dublin City University and have been asked as one of my assignment (which is due in around xmas, eeek!) to research an on-line community.

The purpose of the research is to get involved with members, get to know them, check peoples interests and the various in's and out's and what-have-yous that make up the the community. And what better place than music which I love anyway...(two birds -one stone!)

So in the next few weeks I'll write up my assignment, the aim of which is to also give feedback to the community so its completely transparent and mutually beneficial for all......Mostly I'll just be browsing through the site like any member and interacting the odd time etc......using the 'netnography approach if anyone knows it...

So that's really it.....sorry about the long winded intro but its a must as part of the research to disclose your presence and intentions to the community...

Hope to talk and get to know a few of you over the next couple of weeks

Any help or pointers on how to get started would be great too (no...I'm not asking you to do my assigment....well we'll see )

not bad, College closed till monday (probably like yourselves) spent the last few days doing absolutely nothing which is probably not the best plan considering imminent assignment deadlines... oh well!

By the way, those 15 posts may need to be in the actual music sections of the forums, not sure where posts count in this place.

Welcome to the site, Musicnative

I'm pleased to read that you've chosen us as your study group. Normally, we're not too happy about people coming here for help with their studies, but considering it's a study on us, I'm positive and and interested in what your conclusions will be. I think the MB community has some characteristics that I belive might make it an interesting community to study, such as it being made up of people from different age groups and nationalities.

To help you with your study, I'll notify the other moderators of your presence and intentions. It might also be a good idea to set up a thread in the The Lounge where you officially state the aim and plans for your study, unless you feel some level of secrecy might improve your results. If you have any other requests, feel free to send me a private message!

I also see you're asking for a good place to start. We have a newbie thread which hopefully should answer most questions you might have. A good place to start is of course the newbie guide! http://www.musicbanter.com/introduct...sicbanter.html

Good luck and hope you decide to stay when the study is done.

By the way, here are some old threads that might be interesting for you to get an initial idea of what sort of community you're dealing with

Welcome to Music Banter! When I joined, I was taking notes for a statistics class, it's really interesting that you are doing some research on us as well! It's definitely a great community to research as well as be a part of. I hope you stay!

I've been to Dublin. An angry woman at the tram station threw a drink at me.

Welcome.

Hey there really appreciate you taking the time to give me some pointers. The site is looking brilliant and I actually did a bit of searching the web of other sites and settled on this one, like you said, as it has a really good mix of age and nationalities. And cheers for the threads I'll make a start on them and see where it takes me...

The research should be interesting too, and as i mentioned in my Intro post its a completely transparent process and I'll be reporting back to Music Banter with my assignment and conclusions ( all objective of course).

Cheers again and may take you up on the offer of help in the near future....
