I sort of already do this, in the "Stranger in a strange land" feature, where I explore as thoroughly as I can a genre I'm either not familiar with or don't like. Mind you, I'm still recovering from my venture into the music of boybands! And it's not over yet... brrr!

I am curious though, is there really no jazz at all that you like? Since I know you like a lot of prog, I'd think there'd be at least some jazz fusion that would appeal to you.

Return To Forever seems to be one of those jazz bands leaning towards a prog-like sound. If i had to guess he might enjoy a few of their better tunes.

No, nobody did. It was my own decision. Taking a leaf out of Jackhammer's book really, and the old adage, don't knock it till you've tried it. Well, now I've tried it, I can knock it!

Seriously, I wanted to be as informed as I can about genres I don't like so that when I tell people why I don't like them I have references and experience that I can use in any arguments. Example: "Take that are great" can be countered with "Take that had one good album, Beautiful world though the next one, Progress was not as good. Their first two albums were awful, but I liked the acoustic semi-rock/pop they tried on BW". See? Now any TT fan is stumped, because I actually KNOW about their band....

Knowledge is power!
