Yeah. I remember listening to So a few years back and liking it, but it was only a couple of years ago when I started listening more intensely to his music (it was "Games Without Frontiers" that got things rolling).

Yo, I love Todd's videos, don't remember ever noticing MB in his videos but lo and behold, there it is. Here's the link for those who are lazy - can anyone source the original thread that he's referring to in the video?

Norg has my suspicions

So unassuming - or at least, that's what he wants you to think...

Maybe he just used MB as a visual reference of an old school forum. If you go and search mentions of the Spin doctors, nothing comes up that resembles the discussion he mentions in the video.

That's a good question though. Which artists count as Kate Bush-like? Bjork? (but I don't really know a lot of her music, she seems experimental in a less pop-ish way). Maybe Tori Amos? (I've been very slowly discovering her music.)

Cheers! Favourite album? And why is it The Dreaming?
If you love The Dreaming there's no reason you wouldn't love Bjork. I would start at the beginning - Debut (1993). I love many Bjork albums but that remains the one.

The Kick Inside
I read the overall glowing Pitchfork review (by a British writer) the other day, to be reminded why I despise British music journalists. They have some inner compulsion to be patronizing to real artists while worshipping tedious posers, aka the NME mindset. This is what it has to say about one of the most perfect pop songs ever recorded:

Quote:
The louche “L’Amour Looks Something Like You” treads similarly brazen territory though lands less soundly. She fantasizes about “that feeling of sticky love inside” as if anticipating a treacle pudding, and there is an unctuous gloop to the arrangement that makes it one of the album’s least distinctive songs.
"Somebody's pulling me out on the streets and you're louche"

Nobody gets to disrespect The Kick Inside like that

Which is third (I assume it's between Never Forever and Hounds of Love)?

I've never had a third favourite because I always liked The Kick Inside and The Dreaming so much more than the other ones, and I haven't listened to the rest in ages. Time to do so again and see

I love those two. Hounds of Love's reputation as one of the great 80s albums is absolutely justified imo and Never For Ever is a really strong album too. I always skip Babooshka cause it's annoying but lots of great music there.

Though tbh I haven't listened to anything KB that isn't The Dreaming in ages

yeah I think I like Hounds of Love most, but I like both more than I used to (and Babooshka is great, what are you on about). I like Lionheart too.
