This si in the Jazz and Blues section so I'm assuming we're not talking about the electronica sub-genre, but I would strongly reccomend:
The New Mastersounds - Keb Darge Presents: Grant Green - Live at the Lighthouse Stanton Moore - III Lonnie Liston Smith - Expansions |

i like some of the stuff on the now-defunct "Acid Jazz" label, but they're closer to soul and funk than jazz, so i dunno about the misnomer
i only have comps, though, the stuff doesn't exactly make me wanna go out and get entire albums, and these comps includes stuff by the Brand New Heavies (early material), Mother Earth, the James Taylor Quartet and Corduroy they're all Brits, btw |

Thanks for the thread on acid jazz and Acid Jazz label. I have often been intrigued by this. I was a child of the 90s Acid Jazz label, and always believed that Gilles Peterson/Eddie Piller created Acid Jazz label as a new genre. But was it in fact replicating and building on the original acid jazz movement of the 60s and 70s, but with a more electronica sound?
SATCHMO: "The original was a style of "west coast" jazz from the late 60's/early seventies jazz that's very mellow with a lot of bright yet laid-back melodies and intermittent horn arrangements. The legendary jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery is almost always associated with this style of music as he undoubtedly pioneered the genre. The second genre is, of course, electronica" Thanks, will check him out. Here's a band I listened to a lot over the last few years. Vels Trio. Big in the London scene. Are they jazz? Electronica? They only released two albums, before splitting up recently for pastures new. Pity.
