I wouldn't start with Om, that piece can be a bit hard to get into if you're not accustomed to free jazz or world music. A Love Supreme, Sun Ship, and Impressions are three good albums to start with. After that just make your way through his discography and you'll eventually pick out your favourites.

Mostly into free/avant-garde jazz but world music, for the most part, is not my cup of tea.

Listen to "Ascension" and "Meditations" first instead, since you are into free jazz. Who knows, you might like Om, they incorporate the world music element very well within the free jazz.

interesting Jazz Albums:

John O'Keefe - True North. It is a solo cello album that is all improvised. Really interesting stuff

Also Stephan Braun- The Raid- more jazz cello
