^ "Fantastically entertaining" - right you are! I love this record and Keith Tippett's work in general. Title is a nod to Soft Machine's "Dedicated To You..." (which was a nod to Coltrane's "Dedicated To You"). The legendary Robert Wyatt on drums here, along with Brian Springs and Phil Howard (who later replaced Wyatt in Soft Machine).

Abdul Wadud By Myself: Solo Cello This is a f*cking masterpiece. The track "In a Breeze" is one of the more melodic and beautiful solo cello pieces I've ever heard. It's a perfect display of what a cello can do. Excellent record and one day it will be a very expensive addition to my collection. |

I mean, not much else to do. I have a small apartment. I read at night. I've been digging into a playlist on Youtube called "Albums I can't find on Spotify". Most are jazz and heavily leaned to the obscure out there titles than fringe on free or are close enough to the avant garde, usually evading the grasp of Spotify.

Afro-Jaws by Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis Couldn’t find this on Spotify either. Percussion rich bop. I could see this appealing to fans of Art Blakey.

Tomasz Stanko Quintet Purple Sun What an absolute BEHEMOTH. OH, if you haven't heard this, do it now. It's unassailable. It's an avant-garde fusion juggernaut. Beautiful rhythms and the perfect moments of unleashed out there chaos. One of the tightest quintets I've ever heard. Oh, man. Wow. Janusz Stefański is a f*cking octopus. |
