Best Blues Guitarists.

Ill start with Robert Johnson.

Wow, there's a lot of great blues guitarist from Texas alone (Texas Blues). Stevie Ray Vaughan is a personal favorite.

I would defiantly pick Eric Clapton as one of my favorite Blues guitarist.

Soo many great musicians came out of Texas, especially blues musicians. I think clapton is great, but i know a lot of people who think he sucks. I cant understand why.

I like most Blues players from SRV (I don't care if people like him or not) to Blind Willie McTell and Rev Gary Davis (and I don't care if people heard them or not) Why some people don't like EC is a matter of choice - I guess. EC does his own thing, (he plays what-ever in blues scale and then bends a note) that pretty much sums up his style. Jimmy Page, Reverend Willy G and other imo play actual riff and licks taken from Blues players. I think BFG is more rooted in the Blues while EC uses Blues as template. I like EC, I think he was great in his Psychedelic and Blues Rock days (and I'm sure he's a Blues enthusiast) but I don't see him as a Bluesy as other guitar players...

Everyone already knows but mine is definatley SRV and then Hendrix. Yes I know Hendrix was more than just blues but theres no need to elaborate. If were talking living blues players though I would have to say Tab Benoit

i know you are all obsessed with big names

but a very underrated bluesman is Hubert Sumlin, his licks are tasty and sweet and his riffs brilliant

he supported Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf

Ya i guess youre right about clapton, but he can still shred those blues scales. Even SRV uses the same blues scale lick in many songs. I'm not obsessed with big names. Hubert Sumlin is great, I would consider him a pretty big name. Gotta love that riff in the song smokestack lightning. If youre talking about Hubert Sumlin, then you have to mention Willie Johnson, Howlin Wolfs other guitarist; He was great. Howlin Wolf himself was a good slide guitar player, he doesnt get enough credit as a guitarist. A great bluesy/jazzy guitarist is T-Bone walker. He is the father of the electric blues, he doesnt get near enough credit. My favorite young guitar player would have to be Derek Trucks.

I like Buddy Guy, he's in his 70s and still playing. And good at it to say the least. He has a unique sound and style that is (all to his own).
