I do like a bit of Clapton. Went to see him live at the RAH, he had Steve Winwood with him at this gig, who for the most played keys but did have a stint on the guitar which was pretty awesome and he did himself justice. I also like Bonamassa, haven't seen him live but it's something on my to-do-list. SRV is a must.

I like the dynamics and style of Buddy Guy. One of the pioneers of the Chicago blues sound.

Totally agree with you. Buddy's great and still going strong. I also like Rory Gallagher and Albert Collins. Gallagher is my favorite rock guitarist but he was also a fine blues guitarist. And I went through a phase where I couldn't go a day without playing an Albert Collins album. I thought he was underrated & under-appreciated but that may be that I didn't know many people who were familiar with his work.

Being from Chicago & having spent FAR too much time in the blues clubs, I can mention more than a few great blues players but have to admit...until recently...I felt SRV was the best blues guitar player I ever heard because he played with incredible feeling. That's my only knock on Clapton. He's, no doubt, a great blues/guitar player, but he's too much a technician. Today....Joe Bonamassa might be the best blues/guitar player out there. Definitely the most powerful. Monte Montgomery might just be a close 2nd.
