I'm not putting words in your mouth. If anything I'm completely disagreeing with you.

You are saying that you shouldn't judge people by their appearance/culture. And I am saying, that you should.

Judging people by their appearance gives you a good idea of what sort of people they hang with, what their interests probably are, what kind of music they like, even the way they see the world.

If you don't think that, then that's fine, but the moment you walk out of the door, people will be judging you - completely subconciously. They will look at you and decide in that splitsecond if you would be someone they would hang out with.

So if it's judgement you are afraid of, then I suggest you stay indoors.

geeessss i did NOT say apperance and culture are even remotely the same thing. and you should get to no someone before you make the slightest judgment of the person. i never said i was afraid of judgment. i have a really good friend who gets harrased just because she is a quiet to herself person. i dont like to see her suffer.

i just noticed this comment now, and I really need to point something out. Your shouldn't judge someone based on how they act or what they do? well how else are you supposed to judge them? people need to be held accountable for their actions, it's just rediculous to say that you can't judge someone by how they act or what they do. also, the people that someone hangs out with is a great indicator as to what kind of person they are. The reason we have the friends that we do is because we have a lot in common, and it's simply undeniable that if you hang out with someone with certain qualities, chances are you have some, if not most of those same qualities as well.

Uh look dude, I'm not saying that it's a GOOD way to judge people, I'm just saying it's how people work out who they want to get to know, and who they don't. They don't even do it knowingly, they do it subconsciously most of the time.

I'm not making it up, it's the truth. We all judge people by what they wear every day.

Yes, you're right, before you make judgements about people, you should get to know them first - but if your subconscious brain thinks different, then there is not a lot you can do about it apart from maybe accept it and get on with your life.

Hmm, looks like someone at dictionary.com doesn't like punk.
