And to all those who say that drowning is not a painful death :usehead:

You are unable to catch your breath, and if something is preventing you from reaching air (you're being held under the water) then you suffer in complete agony for about 11 minutes.

i'm sure there's far worse ways to die than being without breath for 11 minutes ( it can't be that long by the way ), but i was watching Amistad the other day ( the inspiration for this thread ), and there was a scene where they threw the slaves overboard tied to each other with chains...and they showed them slowly going down in the deep dark water....and i just shuddered at the thought of slowly dissapearing in the dark, looking up at the diminishing light...grasping for air where there is none....it blew my mind....i know in the end, everyone is alone...but that just seemed like the loneliest way to die....

After about 10 minutes without oxygen you loose consciousness.
So yes, it can be that long. And imagine what you feel like after being without breath for 2 minutes.

I heard it like five years ago I don't remember if it was right, but yeah it would suck. I mean like, at a pool going underwater and losing breath there sucks enough. That for like even double the time would be awful.

Being called Gacy style would suck also.

&Drowning you pass out before you die.

I agree, I would not like falling to my death, or being in a horrific car accident and bleeding all over the place at three in the morning so no one could come rescue me, and basically die slowly and painfully.

anything that pretty much means knowing I'm going to die within the next five minutes, and it will be painful and cause suffering would be worse then anything.. and leaves so many doors open for a million ways to die.

Well, it actually depends on what you are doing, if you are flailing and swinging around in 100% panic under tha water, you use up the oxygen much quicker.
If you calmly look for a way out, and are somehwhat calm you will passout within 10 minutes.

Being tortured (four quarter horse treatment, ECT, Lobotomy, having individual limbs cut off one by one) or
Alzheimers, that is horrible.

MoonlitSunshine 08-04-2006 03:28 PM

But how aware of it are you when you have Alzheimers?

Raine 08-04-2006 03:37 PM

worst way to die is drowning I would imagine.

I imagine the worst way for me to die for me thogh is to die by fire.

I wouldn't mind dying at the age of 96.
I think most women in my family lie to be in their 90's anyhow so i probably won't be any different.

and to an extent my faith/religious beliefs does effect the way i live my life.

I'm not sure.
My kum had alzheimer's for 35 years and he died on my birthday last year.
His wife had seen him in the hospital every day for the past 35 years and the day before he died the doctors said he "miraculously recovered".
He got out of his chair and walked with a cane and looked into his wife's eyes and everything and hugged her, then the next day he died.
That's why that would be horrible.
