When you want someone, you need to somewhat "perform" for them, attract their attention. In short, "beautify" to get their attention. Once you accept the fact you need to change, use makeup, dress better, then you will be happy. You wont be happy if you continue being overlooked and still look homeless. I will agree with you that's it's how it happens. People can talk **** about liking people for personalities and all that, but it rarely is true. People hook up with people with money/looks.

Maybe that's part of why the world's going to hell in a handbasket.

Anyway, to Ensemble, my advice:

What are you looking for?

If you want "hook-ups" and "one night stands", hell yes, get out the makeup and the hooker shoes and all. If it's purely mindless sex you're after, by all means, do what's necessary, since these things are usually based on looks alone.

If you're looking for something deeper or more long-term, take off the nail polish, and throw on the army pants and flannel. The people who actualy want long-term generally are more into knowing the person behind the face, since they'll desire someone they can be with for a while, if long-term is really their goal. It's really hard to live even more than a week with someone who clashes your personality, so compatibility is key in long-term relationships. Therefore, be yourself, so they know- and you know- what kind of long-term partner they're/you're getting. If you find someone who likes you for who you are, good luck with it.

Neither of these things are right, per se (though I have my views on it, it's ultimately your choice and your life). It's all up to you, not us - what kind of relationship are you after? Once you answer that, it becomes clear.

However, I'll leave you with the words of a great poet:

"This above all: to thine own self be true."

I wouldn't completely agree with that, but I think she's making a good point, which is that:

- For somebody to become interested in you, you need to attract somebody's attention in the first place... whether you want to get to know them better or just have a fling.

Furthermore, I'd like to make two points (to Ensemble and those like her):
- Your clothes are NOT you. If you define yourself by wearing baggy clothes then personally I find it ridiculous. Clothes should be seen as a tool. Its cold, you wear warm clothes. Its wet and muddy, you wear a raincoat and wellies. Your playing sport, you wear sports clothes. And if you want to attract a man's attention and spark his interest in you, you wear sexy clothes. Baggy clothes aren't really any more comfortable than fitted clothes. In fact, they can be quite dangerous if you catch them on things.
- If you intend to wear the same clothes all of your life because that's what you're most comfortable with, then that also is ridiculous. If you have such a narrow comfort zone that you have to cling to a certain style of clothing like a baby clinging to its comfort blanket or teddy then I'd worry that you might end up having a very boring life. Probably one which involves a lot of daytime TV and oven-ready food.

And don't forget to stand up straight. Slouching don't make you cool, fool.

Also, standing up straight, kinda arch your back and it makes your boobs stand out. Another posture tip: Keep your head up(Think "chin up" like Charlottes Web lol). All about acting like you're better than everyone.

I wish all women walked around like that!

On a tangent, does anybody else find it strange when some guys say they like "good-looking women who don't know their good-looking"? To me, a woman who's good-looking but doesn't know it is probably a bit of a retard. If you're good-looking, you probably have been so for a long time and if you haven't realised then you must be an extremely slow learner. I mean, all you need to do is look in the mirror to find out, right?

Well I have friends that are absolutely gorgeous and we tell them they're beautiful but they just dont feel that way. Its a low self esteem issue. They're not particularly retarded, just in denile.

I think what everyone else is getting at is:

walk around naked.

In a club, or ideally a dark alley. Good things will happen.

True. But do tramps get laid? Again, no. So why dress like one? Your clothes don't determine who you are. You don't have confidence if you have to dress a particular way to not feel insecure. Men like confident schladies, not ones that cling to some trouty looking shirt.
