I don't think they have a great camera for that price, usually they suck but it all depends on what your going to use it for. Are you going to put pics on the computer or what.

Yeah just basic photos really, and being able to chuck them on the PC. I don't want anything like Cardboard Adolescents monster, it'd be like giving a Ferrari to someone who can't drive.

For that price range your probably best of getting a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S500 which is £89 in the UK 6.0 megapixels , x3 zoom lens. You`ll struggle to find a better one for that price.Plus it`s a reliable brand name.
Or there`s the Canon Powershot A430 which is £71 in the UK has 4.0 megapixels and a x4 zoom lens.

Cheers Urban, yeah I had a feeling I was being a tightarse with my budget but thats all I can do haha. Besides, a camera that can connect to my PC is pretty much all I want.

Just don`t get anything with Kodak or Fuji written on it.

I`ve made that mistake before

ive a question.
is it the person behind the camera or the camera itself which makes the biggest difference?

It depends on what level you're talking about. Most nonces can take the occasional really great photograph if they are using a really good camera. They'll also have a load of crappy photographs with very nice resolution. A brilliant photographer using a rubbish camera will be limited to taking a load of very good, but never great, photographs. Give them a middle-of the range SLR though and a good photographer should be able to pull some magic.

I'd argue that you can't actually become a good photographer (by my definition of good) unless you've got a good camera with the necessary lenses and lighting equipment anyway. Getting the angles and composition right for the photo is only part of the job, focussing and lighting are just as important and a lot of the skill comes from being able to adjust all of that properly.
