Oh shut the **** up. Just cause you're Englands bitch boy and you've got a complex because SitU had an avatar for 20 seconds that was bigger than your country, don't go Napoleon on the international community.
Why are you so anti-american by the way. If I have to point out that you should judge people by states or at least by regions of the country one more time im going to scream. For all I'm ignorant of a dying language, you're ignorant enough of one of the worlds major countries. Honestly, for all the information thats out there to know, I don't think knowing Welsh is still spoken is really up there. I read the Economist cracker, I'm more worldly than 75% of the country. Pipe down. Now lets get back to reality: 1. Of the 5 people who said they could fist themselves orally, still no photos...not cool. I'm about to take a photo of me attempting it. 2. Can we get some welsh pronuciation. Give its age and englands history im going to pronounce it like I do german words. Maybe its nees a gaelic like resurgence. 3. What happened to Moely, and Sensitive, do you speak Welsh? |

If by cosmopolitan you mean you read the magazine then yes, you probably are. First of all I never said "the U.S. is large so we don't have to know about the rest fo the world", you probably just threw that in there because you assumed that I think that way. Check your own hang ups before you come in here and start trashing me.
1. As i've stated previous, knowing welsh was a spoken language is not really the world. Thats like saying i've gone to croatia and I've traveled the globe. And to go back to having hangups, what inspires such a brazen lashing out at a passing comment about one person not knowing that Welsh was a spoken language. Especially when its to be followed by a bunch of English citizens saying not many people outside of the U.K. know its spoken. Get off your high horse jackass. 2. You may know more about certain countries, but on the whole I'll bet you know what intrests you. And whats more irritating about this is that as far as worldly knowledge, or culture goes, you looked at the wide array that existed on the pallate and you decided what was correct and anyone who chose otherwise is somehow "uncultured." Tell me why I should know alla bout europe. I'm not disagreeing with you here, but why isn't Japanese or Indian culture just as good. To be fair, most culture came from specificlly Germany and France. 3. Tell me exactly why you're so smug and content to take your pent up U.S. hated out on me? I mean theres multiple times you've slammed boston in your petulant diatribe there. Have you ever been here? If so I'd like to know exactly what you did? A lay over at Logan Airport doesn't count. And on the off chance that you havn't been here, you've got a lot of gall attacking some where you've never been, and someone you don't know in the very thread you were condeming people in for committing the same act. To put it as economiclly american as I can: **** off Adidass...and nice corporate sell out you "highly cultured and cosmopolitan" jackass. Call me when you want to identify yourself by something other than a companey that created its clothes in sweatshops in malaysia and cambodia. Or maybe you didn't know that seeing as your head was up Europes ass. Your volley ol' Chum. |

So far, adidasss is winning IMO.
He's making a lot of good points in this round. |
LoL, I didn't even realize big3 was wearing the stars and stripes spandex till now.

He considers not knowing welsh an apathy to world issues. |
I don't see it that way, he just based his argument off that.
Also, I'm siding with Adidasss (for now) because Big3 is swearing a lot, it makes his vocabulary seem smaller and his arguments seem more closed-minded and frustrated. |

Yeah man, I agree. How the argument is worded>>>the arguement. |
Big3 is on a never-ending witch hunt and adidasss always goes out of his way to insult Americans. Tie?

This really will be the thread that breaks me.
First off, I don't go on witch hunts as oojay accuses me of on a regular basis. between him, boo boo, and now adidasss. I never went into this looking to start a brawl and frankly I don't care if snickers thinks I swear a lot. I'm not in this to win, Adidasss has gone out of his way to slag anyone American because he's so righteously european. Fine whatever. A legitiment question about a language i didn't know was still spoken has erupted into this? Well, im all set. Have your fun, im honestly not up to having a chest beating match with someone I think is a closed-minded, pig-headed biggot who would never accept a point from a "stereotypical american." I'm sure I know nothing about anything outside of our borders. Despite reading philosophy from Heidegger, Fukuyama, Mercuse, and Lyotard. I study international law, am part of model U.N., I've sat in on lectures from Chinese Judges and write essays on third world development. I havn't really felt the need to say this before now, but since my credentials are being called into question by someone who judges me on a music forum well, I guess I need to bring it all up. Its irrelevent what you think of me, If you want to group oojay and myself together because we're from the same country, thats fine. We're clearly the same person. I don't know when you decided to start brawling with me here Adidasss, but there was a time we used to converse on AIM more so than any other MBer. I guess between now and then you've felt I've expressed my self as somewhat of an ignorant ass. Fine, no one asked you to be civil or utalize any sort of propriety in my direction. Do as you will, talk to who ya want, and keep coming at the americans here because we're not from somewhere else. Just for the record; Boston is the educational capital of the world, not the country. I'm sure you'll refute that as well. |

Silly Croats. I liked you all better when you were Yugoslavians. It's more fun to say. Alas, not everyone can be as cultured as citizens from the country that invented the neck-tie, can we?
Croatia aside, which seems to be it's proper place, I think that Americans should be more World-conscience. It is ignorant, however, to think that the average American's lack of knowledge about the rest of the world makes us "stupid". Do you think we are incapable of learning about other countries? Is it beyond our mental capacity? Probably not. It is my firm belief that if you are a European coming in here and bashing Americans because of a different focus of what you perceive to be our collective interest, then you are flaunting your own ignorance and poorly representing your own country. However, I am willing to forgive Croatia if everyone else is willing to follow suit. Luckily, I am not under the assumption that everyone in Zagreb acts like Addiiddassss, just like everyone in Boston does not act like Big3, although a lot of them could benefit from doing so. Love, A stupid American |
Dear stupid Americans,
Don't worry too much about how the Europeans view the average American. After all, there is a good reason for the 'average American' perspective of the the world. You have everything you need within your own borders, much like the British. The only difference being, the British share a close proximity to other 'alien' cultures (as is the case for the other Euros...obviously), which despite our best efforts to ignore, predictably, continue to seep through into our collective consciousness. The fact that a vast stretch of water known as the Atlantic separates our continents, is a major playing factor. Your land is already a melting pot of world cultures, fashioned in a modern and new way, with the future in mind. Most Europeans would give their high teeth to live in the U.S. The fact is, you are the same...but different. Yours condescendingly, An arrogant European. ;) Credentials: An autographed football, signed by Eric Cantona and a photograph of a man with a dead horse. |
Dear Right-Track,
It seems your name is spot on, governor. Forever yours, A Good Ole Fashioned Southern Boy PS: Interestingly enough, a good amount of Americans would give their lower teeth to live somewhere more interesting than America. |
Vive la difference! :)

You may say that posing such a question is a sign of healthy curiosity and the willingness to learn new things, but to me, when you're 24 and have a college eduaction, such questions are not allowed, that is, if you still wanna retain the aura of "intelligence". Quote:

I love how you just side step loopholes in your reasoning. Law school must be paying off. So what you're saying is that the only way in which I "come off incorrectly intelligent" to paraphrase a line is because I have a large vocabulary? And because of all the things I do that would tip me off to the larger world events I should know welsh was spoken? And because I'm 24 and am college educated I shouldn't be allowed to ask on a music message board?
You're far more arrogant than the Americans on these boards combined. And how does america have no culture? These are the aruguments I see as half-assed and underdeveloped for the sake of winning. I'm sure you over-looked the invention of Jazz, Citizen Kane, Angels in America, The Great Gatsby, Capitilism and Freedom, or any other great work American produced. And why? Not because its not here, or that its hard to find, you're just an uppity foreign elitist with all the arrogance you bash us for having. You're a hypocrite from start to finish and its disgusting. Let me also point out that I don't think you're intelligent because you know the answers to trivial pursuit questions, live and Europe and worship England. And your standard of what everyone should know, and to take it a step further, what constitues someone as intelligent is another shining example of this European mindset that we hear stereotyped in our conservative media, and that the logical people disregard only to have it reinforced by some irrelevent poster on a music forum. What makes you any more intelligent than someone who fixes cars, or develops AI, or knows how to settle disputes better than the rest of the feild. The bottom line is, there is no standard of intelligece. Do borrow from the post-modernists "everything is perspective based." Your arrogance is our humility, our brilliance is your stupidity. It doesn't make it right, it makes it what you think, and as you've shown us time and again, what you think is just arrogant pretence. I don't know what the standard of living here would be since I've stated a thousand times now that each state is diffrent. In MA, all civil unions are legal, and we're passing legisaltion on universal healthcare, in South Dakota none of that is the case and abortion is illegal. The cost of living and taxes changes state to state, and how politics are run changes state to state. I don't know what the "american standard of living" is but we're all (you included) post-modern post industrial cities. Obesity and Diabeties are the main issues within the society, the biggest problem for most people in the Western First-world is what to watch on television that night. So if by standard of living you mean who gets more channels, well then there I'll say im being a stupid american again, I don't know who has better television programming. And since whe is Europe seperated by an Ocean from Asia? |
Neither freedom nor capitilism were not founded by America.

On the subject of this poll, I can't vote because I don't see how somebody can 'win' such a pointless argument.
P.S. Right-Track, stop kissing American ass right now! They have everything they need within their own borders? Really? Until the time that Amsterdam and Bangkok relocate to the US I will have to disagree with you on that one. |
Everyone's talking about ignorant American's I made blatant dumb comment. It's funnier on this side of the screen. I promise.
I didn't know that welsh was actually a language though. I mean that bit of information really doesn't do you any good in the US. I bet most europeans don't all the states and capitals and why the fuck would they? But also knowledge=/=intelligence. Stupid people are everywhere, end of. |
^You know that Irish (Gaelic) is a language though? To put it simply, most places that were seperate countries in the past with individual cultures developed their own unique language. Ireland, Wales, Scotland and the South-West of England (Cornish) all have their own languages which were completely different to English although Scottish Gaelic and Cornish have died out.
