I know possession is legal in Uruguay, don't know about the laws in Argentina though.

the situation is a bit weird here... and it's not clear yet, as the law was made last year (here legal things take A LOT of time for people to get used to, including judges and police)
Consumption is legal, so possession and cultivating for personal use is legal too, basically you can do whatever you want in your house as long as it doesn't involve other people and you can smoke weed in the street and it's supposed to be ok (though I woudn't take the risk myself), but if police stops you and finds out you've got weed in your pockets or finds a plant in your house, they can arrest you for possession because how can they know you're going to smoke it and not to sell it? the thing is they want to stop drug traffic (is that the correct way to call it?) but it's illogical, how can I smoke weed without buying or cultivating it? If they made the selling legal and control it, it would be much safer for everyone.
anyway smoking weed here is the most natural thing, weed is slowly becoming as normal as cigarette. I don't know how it's in your countries, but here we can smoke weed in a concert, in the street, in a club, and no one's going to tell us anything about it and we can talk about it openly (well of course there are some exceptions, for instance I wouldn't tell my family but people at work do know about it and actually we're planning on getting together and bake some magic brownies hahaha) though I guess it depends on the social sphere you're in.

I think legalizing it is good, it makes the whole thing a lot clearer. Like with alcohol, I was talking with an american friend who told me in the USA you can start drinking legally when you're 21, so he thought that made young people drink illegaly and unconsciously. Here we can start drinking alcohol when we're 18, but things are way more relaxed, we start drinking when we're 16 or so and no one will say anything or arrest you or something if you're drinking (unless you're making trouble) nor even most parents, so we are more familiar with alcohol in a more relaxed way. I don't know if I made my point, it's hard for me to write these sort of things in english!
