I don't think having your first beer is nearly as dangerous as shooting up on heroine your first time. Or smoking meth. It's not just about addiction, but how serious the effects of the addiction are. Nicotine is one of the most addictive things out there, but the effects don't cause people to go to rehab.

I think I'll stick to occasionally smoking herb. I might have to test the gasmask out here soon

LOL. Just a couple quick things:

1. "Heroine" is a female hero, "heroin" is the drug.
2. Most people who use heroin don't shoot it. Comparing that to drinking one beer is apples and oranges.
3. I said alcohol was more addictive than most illegal drugs, not all of them. Heroin and meth are hardly the only other drugs in the world.
4. The effects of alcohol addiction can be very serious indeed, just as serious and something like heroin or meth.

Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not anti-alcohol and I'm not pro-heroin. I just think people are often too quick to base their assessments on drug dangers off of myths, instead of actually looking at things objectively.

Thanks for the grammar clarification, accidentally added an extra letter in there. Obviously meth and heroin are not the only 2 illegal drugs on Earth, but 'harder' drugs is primarily what I was referring too. Also, everything I know about heroin tells me that injection is the most popular form of using heroin.

I'm just not worried about becoming addicted to alcohol. I have drank it many, many times, and I am not addicted. I have been cutting down on smoking too. Mind-altering drugs aren't something I am nearly as interested in anymore as I was and the risk of addiction is not worth the high for me to want to try anything more than shrooms or weed

Or perhaps you do. Depends if we are talking about all users, first-time/occasional users, or addict/junkies.

I'm not saying you should be worried. I'm just pointing out the logical inconsistency in being terrified of ending up in rehab if you try anything harder than weed when you are already using an addictive drug that's harder than weed on a regular basis.

I'm not terrified to go to rehab. I don't find alcohol addictive to me, same goes for weed. I don't have the desire to try anything drugs harder than that. If nothing else, just the waste of money it would be. And I really don't want to get caught up in dealing anything other than bud to pay for a drug habit. Saying I didn't want to try anything "more" than weed was general, and things I had in mind were drugs like crack, heroin, prescription pills, etc

Of course you don't find weed addictive. It's not an addictive drug.

Well from what I know, injecting is the most popular way to use the drug. I've yet to really see anything contradicting that, but I'm not a heroin user or associate myself with any users so I don't know completely, I'm going off research.

And I'm not saying you should run out and start doing a bunch of other drugs. I'm just, again, pointing how funny this prevailing attitude is where people somehow put alcohol in some special category apart from other addictive drugs, and the hilarious contortions of logic they'll use to try and justify their position.

I think the reason "people somehow put alcohol in a special category" is because it's 1) widely used and 2) people see peers/co-workers drinking and still holding their lives together... where as a lot of drugs, that doesn't happen. Seems like a lot of people can keep their **** together and go have a few beers and not be addicted. Doesn't seem like as many drug users can do that.

Of course, you never mentioned which specific drugs you were ever talking about so we're basing everything here off of grouping "drugs" into a pretty broad category.

Eh. I'm too sick right now to continue any kind of cogent debate (I'm home from work with pneumonia). The main point I'm trying to get at here though is that it's worth reading up on these kinds of things, and also considering the sources, before you make assumptions. A lot of the time you'll find that what's illegal and what isn't has much more to do with politics and economics than it has to with what's better or worse for you.

I actually kicked one of my friends out of my house after he told me he drank four beers and drove home. I told him he could come back after he learned how to use the gray mass up in his head. I believe it actually worked .
