It's actually sanctioned here in San Diego in the Chicano section near the Coronado Bridge. It's actually become a tourist attraction to walk around around the bridge.

Huge difference between that and randomly tagging ****.

Again. You're romanticizing juvenile delinquency just cause you feel like being an *******. Quite coming up with bull**** rationalizations and just stop spray painting **** like some teenage retard.
I think you just are incapable of appreciating what goes into good graffiti, even if it's just a tag.

Alright I'm done with this. For all you pretend you want to change your ways or figure out what's wrong with you, when somebody says something as ****ing simple as "Don't vandalize property if you want to be not an *******", and you can't even see the wisdom in it, then you're ****ing hopeless. Your funny, drunken posts aren't even funny anymore. They're depressing. If you want sympathy for your various ****ed up ****, go to LiL. I don't care anymore.

I don't really care about sympathy when I make those obnoxious self loathing posts n stuff, it's just me venting in a place I shouldn't after coming down because I'm too far gone to realize how stupid I'm being. If tagging makes me an ******* by your standards that's really irrelevant to me, I'm not asking for your approval either. The biggest point I'm trying to make in regards to graffiti is that there's more to it than you seem to understand. There's technique. There are aesthetic standards. There is culture. There are values. All of that varies completely depending on who you're asking but the fact of the matter is art is the process of making something with an aesthetic in mind and graffiti is exactly that. If you fail to see it as anything but scribbles on property that's you being ignorant and not taking the time to see what goes into it. Seeing as you live in Virginia it makes sense that maybe you've only ever seen ****ty tags and weak pieces that were hastily thrown together and basically just subconciously say "Look at me! I ****ed up your shit! Haha! **** you!". When it's done right, tagging is pretty much calligraphy. It's penmanship. You could put as much thought into it as you would with a particularly elaborate signature. Wanted or not, there's a craft behind it and it's ****ing exhausting explaining and defending it to every damn square who probably doesn't pay attention to what things look like anyways. Whenever someone says graffiti is just scribbles I always tell them to try it and see if they can do it. Sometimes they think they did but the fact is they never ****ing can. Ever.

Dude, you're missing the point. Do your art on paper or canvas. Or find someone who will sanction you doing it on their building, wall, railway car, etc.

But just doing it on any damn random surface that you choose, without permission, is being a vandal and a douche bag.

That's the point.

I don't see any problems with graffiti artists painting trains, honestly. I think that subculture is pretty neat. Recognizing other's work, having your "art" travel around the country, etc (so long as your pieces actually look *good*) But when you throw up junk on buildings, especially businesses or homes that people have to pass by or look at day in and day out, that's not cool. I live in a pretty ****ty neighborhood with a lot of abandoned buildings and homes in disrepair, I don't really appreciate taggers making the area look even worse.

Do you also hate it on the highways, underpasses, bridges, etc. ? "Uninhabited" areas.

I didn't read the convo, and I don't care what it's about but that sentence is worth repeating.
