Where I live, every package must be signed for. No leaving boxes on the doorstep to be stolen.

Every little package? That sounds miserable to coordinate. What if you're not home? What if you're wearing headphones? The Japanese must not order a lot of things online.

Every single thing. It can be kind of annoying, but at least it's safe. Delivery people work 12-hour days (but then again, so does everyone here). Not home or didn't hear? You get a notice in your mailbox with their personal cell phone number to call so they can redeliver the package asap.

Must be rough. Where I live, delivery services leave stuff on the doorstep about 90% of the time and I've never had a package stolen.

Sometimes I feel sorry for the delivery people, but most of the time I just think fuck em.

I get everything delivered to my work, since I've had packages go missing from my home. They're only delivered during business hours, and there's always someone there to receive it. It's usually just discs.
