With a business card usually. 2. What’s your favourite statue? I don't really have one. I'll have to look at Citizen Kane's collection 3. When were you last on a bus? A couple years at least. You still have to wear masks in Baltimore I think. 4. Do you use a manual or electric toothbrush? Manual 5. What is the scariest/most disturbing/oddest dream you had? I dreamt Trollheart and Ribbons were getting it on by the couch. ![]() 6. Looking out your window now, what can you see? I can't see my window

Usually a scrap of paper. 2. What’s your favourite statue? Boadicea and Her Daughters 3. When were you last on a bus? Just before the COVID pandemic, in Boston, MA. 4. Do you use a manual or electric toothbrush? Manual. 5. What is the scariest/most disturbing/oddest dream you had? I once had a dream where I was driving a car at a very high speed, lost control and crashed into a bridge support. I was thrown from the car, wound up laying face up in the road with my legs missing, my torso torn open, and my intestines hanging out and spread around. 6. Looking out your window now, what can you see? Several different types of birds flying or feeding, the Atlantic Ocean, an inhabited island, a few boats. |

Depends on the book. For softcovers, I just fold a small part of the corner of the page. For hardcover where I still have the loose cover, I just use one of the ends of that as a bookmark. Otherwise, I either make a mental note of the page number or use a bookmark. 2. What’s your favourite statue? I don't know. 3. When were you last on a bus? Almost exactly a week ago, from a hotel to an airport. 4. Do you use a manual or electric toothbrush? Manual 5. What is the scariest/most disturbing/oddest dream you had? I dreamt my kid's mouth grew shut with skin and I had to tear at it so she could breathe. I had a few nightmares like that with our first when she was little. 6. Looking out your window now, what can you see? I'm outside and typing on my phone, but I'm kinda watching our youngest having fun over-watering our garden plants.

I have an old postcard from a friend in high school which has been my bookmark ever since I received it, which is more than 10 years ago. By now the card isn't legible anymore 2. What’s your favourite statue? I don't have one 3. When were you last on a bus? Probably getting back from the airport to my house because I had a suitcase, a year ago? I rarely take the bus because I just use my bike 4. Do you use a manual or electric toothbrush? Manual 5. What is the scariest/most disturbing/oddest dream you had? Scariest: maybe one where I kept hearing eerie music and every time that happened some ghost girl appeared which nobody else saw. Odd: I once dreamt that I could take a vertical zip line to the middle ages 6. Looking out your window now, what can you see? A view of some lake district hills

I don’t. I usually just try to remember where I was when closing the book (sometimes noting the page number in my mind); then on return I flip through pages until I find the right place. 2. What’s your favourite statue? Ocean Atlas 3. When were you last on a bus? 3 days ago on the crosstown bus 4. Do you use a manual or electric toothbrush? Manual – always a Reach toothbrush, and I change to a new one every month or so. 5. What is the scariest/most disturbing/oddest dream you had? A dream I had recently, actually – because it was so real. I was driving in the dream with my nieces en route to a hotel in Vietnam. As we drove into an underground garage, my nieces told me that it was required by Vietnamese law that you keep a badger (!) in your room as a protection against Covid (?). I was anxious about this because I was afraid to be alone in my hotel room with a badger all week, lol. I took my baggage out of the trunk and walked ahead of my nieces (who were still chatting by the car). I turned around to realize I was far ahead of the girls, so I stopped and put my luggage down – then saw a male figure in a beige raincoat walking toward me. As he came closer, I realized it was my father. I exclaimed that I couldn’t believe he was really there – but he was completely mute and couldn’t respond. He just kept looking at me with a sad, wistful look on his face as if he was about to cry. Then he cupped both his palms together and raised them to my face – holding a large key ring with many sparkling golden keys on it. He was offering these keys to me for some reason, and I sort of understood that the keys were for a special vehicle somewhere in the garage, but I wasn’t sure. And he couldn’t tell me, and looked very sad about it. At that point, I woke up. The dream was very disturbing to me because my father’s presence in it was so palpable, it felt like it had actually occurred. 6. Looking out your window now, what can you see? Other apartments and terraces, courtyard of my building complex with redwood tables and umbrellas, Adirondack chairs, trees and shrubs, and a sliver of the East River with occasional boats going by. |
