1. If your food is late/wrong in a restaurant, do you make a fuss, and is your decision affected by who you’re with, if anyone?

I generally don't make a fuss but I might politely inquire if I'm with people if they seem unnerved by it.

2.What was your first ever modem?

An internal one inside my first computer, a 486.

3. You find a credit card on the street. Nobody is around. What do you do?

Good question. I guess I'd destroy it if I couldn't contact the cardholder.

4. What’s the most precious thing you ever lost, whether that be in terms of actual monetary value, sentimental value or the amount of work put into it, or its uniqueness?

I don't think I lost all that much important, maybe my original birth certificate?

5. How often do you virus check your computer?

Every couple of weeks

6. Would you rather have central heating, a gas fire, an electric fire or a real coal fire?

Probably central heating. Coal is bad for the environment (duh) and who wants to have an electrical fire?

1. If your food is late/wrong in a restaurant, do you make a fuss, and is your decision affected by who you’re with, if anyone?
I've never made a fuss or complained to the staff thus far, I might not go there again if it was really bad I guess

2.What was your first ever modem?
This is somewhat dated for people of my generation, but regardless, any place I've lived in so far has already had one installed so can't really answer

3. You find a credit card on the street. Nobody is around. What do you do?
Try to make sure it finds it way back to its rightful owner.

4. What’s the most precious thing you ever lost, whether that be in terms of actual monetary value, sentimental value or the amount of work put into it, or its uniqueness?
I remember being pretty pissed at losing a rare Duel Masters card (zoomer reference; please ignore) in primary school. I guess I've been fortunate enough not to lose anything legitimately valuable though

5. How often do you virus check your computer?
Probably not often enough, but I'm fairly sure the computer checks itself somewhat regularly anyway

6. Would you rather have central heating, a gas fire, an electric fire or a real coal fire?
central heating all the way, baby

Ah god, you're too young aren't you? A modem is or was a device that would connect you to the internet way before broadband was a thing. It stands for modulator/demodulator, and way back when, you had to have one connected to your telephone line in order to get on the internet. Believe it or not, there was a time when constant connection to the net was not possible, as you were charged the same as a phone call, so the longer you were on the more it cost.

why is wood not an option? that's what I enjoy most, but it's bad for the environment so central heating
Wood is fine I guess. It's more about whether you want a "real" fire or some sort of substitute. Coal/wood are still open fires that use fossil fuels, so more or less the same to me. I know: one good for environment, one not. Wasn't actually aiming at that idea, it was more a case of which is the more comfortable for you?

1. If your food is late/wrong in a restaurant, do you make a fuss, and is your decision affected by who you’re with, if anyone?

I usually wouldn't make a fuss, unless the error rendered the meal inedible.

2.What was your first ever modem?

2400 baud generic internal in a Magnavox 386 SX20MHz desktop with 640k of RAM, 80MB HDD and a 3.5" and 5.25" floppy drive. ZMODEM protocol changed everything in the BBS days.

3. You find a credit card on the street. Nobody is around. What do you do?

Make a moderate effort to find the owner, and if I can't, cut it up.

4. What’s the most precious thing you ever lost, whether that be in terms of actual monetary value, sentimental value or the amount of work put into it, or its uniqueness?

Mine's a very sentimental response. My first long-term girlfriend gifted me a teddy bear I named, "Rupert." He was lost years ago. I've never been able to find one like him.

5. How often do you virus check your computer?

I'm a Linux user. I reboot once annually for good measure. Social engineering is a greater threat than malware in the Linux world.

6. Would you rather have central heating, a gas fire, an electric fire or a real coal fire?

Central would be nice. I have a gas lit fireplace with a remote and just replaced my furnace. Had the option to install central air at the time but I really only use two small rooms in my entire house so it seemed like it would be a waste.

1. If your food is late/wrong in a restaurant, do you make a fuss, and is your decision affected by who you’re with, if anyone? I wouldn't make a fuss, but if say there was hair in my food or the food is wrong I would politely ask for it to be changed. I am a people pleaser/empath and find it very hard to even tell them about things like this but as I got into my thirties it's a bit easier.

2.What was your first ever modem? 1997-1998, I don't know the specs as my dad bought it. I'll ask him and try update it.

3. You find a credit card on the street. Nobody is around. What do you do? I always hand it in where I can or ring the bank where they get you to cut it up. I work in local goverment so it's part of what we follow normally. I also know (not that I would ever do it) that there is CCTV everywhere if you were to use it at the shops and then online you need a bloody good VPN and fake name plus an address that isn't yours or the police will track you in no time.

4. What’s the most precious thing you ever lost, whether that be in terms of actual monetary value, sentimental value or the amount of work put into it, or its uniqueness?

The handwritten letters my Granddad wrote to me in German and English. He died when I was 12 and I lost a part of myself. I only have one of those letters to this day.

5. How often do you virus check your computer? I'm super lazy and let windows look after that.

6. Would you rather have central heating, a gas fire, an electric fire or a real coal fire? If climate change wasn't an issue I would have central heating and a coal fire. I have strong nostalgic memories of warming up against the coal fire with my cat beside me.

I thought I had arrived when I got a 56K!

If it wasn't such a hassle, ie I wasn't so lazy, I think I would go Linux. The idea of being virus/spyware-free... also of sticking it to Gates.

1. If your food is late/wrong in a restaurant, do you make a fuss, and is your decision affected by who you’re with, if anyone?

If we can get it sorted without making a fuss then lets do that. People make mistakes.

2.What was your first ever modem?

It was the early 90's and I was on a Compaq 286 with a 9600 baud rate modem downloading AME for AutoCad v11 from a BBS.

I also once tried to host a website through a dial-up modem. No era bueno.

3. You find a credit card on the street. Nobody is around. What do you do?

Leave it and get on with my day.

4. What’s the most precious thing you ever lost, whether that be in terms of actual monetary value, sentimental value or the amount of work put into it, or its uniqueness?

My mind.

5. How often do you virus check your computer?

Constantly through my AV software.

6. Would you rather have central heating, a gas fire, an electric fire or a real coal fire?

Central.

1. If your food is late/wrong in a restaurant, do you make a fuss, and is your decision affected by who you’re with, if anyone?

I suppose if I was with someone, an opposite person of the contradictory gender, I might try to impress by making something of a fuss, but in reality no. I suppose it might depend on whether it was my meal or hers that was the issue. If hers, then yeah, I'd probably be the big man. But I'm not a big man. I'm a small, petty man in many ways. Almost all of them. I'd just sit there and shut up. We Irish have a saying, "Ah sure it will do." It would do.

2.What was your first ever modem?

2400 BAUD. No idea what make. PACE maybe. It was grey or white. I thought I had arrived when I paid to have two telephone lines into the house, so I had a dedicated one on which to surf the internet. Sometimes I forgot to disconnect and went off to work the next day. The phone bills were staggering. You people don't understand any of this, do you? Well, maybe ISB.

3. You find a credit card on the street. Nobody is around. What do you do?

I'd find a way to contact the owner or bank, advertise or at worst hand it in to the local cop shop. I've been the victim of credit card fraud no less than three times; I know what it's like and I would not wish it on anyone, much less perpetrate it.

4. What’s the most precious thing you ever lost, whether that be in terms of actual monetary value, sentimental value or the amount of work put into it, or its uniqueness?

Probably a book I was writing on Babylon 5 which accidentally got deleted from my computer.

5. How often do you virus check your computer?

Nowhere near as often as I should, in fact, only when it seems like I might have a virus.

6. Would you rather have central heating, a gas fire, an electric fire or a real coal fire?

I love the coziness of a coal fire, the whole idea of it, but after years of maintaining, setting, cleaning out one, the horror of getting coal out of a stringy bag in the dark, the idea of coming home to a cold house because nobody has bothered to set the fire or clean it out, I'll go central heating every time. Comfort, speed and convenience, and heat all over the house when required, as well as hot water.

1. If your food is late/wrong in a restaurant, do you make a fuss, and is your decision affected by who you’re with, if anyone?

I'd wait until the waiter would come. If it was an unreasonable amount of time (like, say, an hour for arabiatta pasta, I would probably ask the waiter "what's going on?").
If it was wrong, then I'd probably eat it anyway. Unless it was something vastly different from what I ordered.

I usually find this kind of stuff funny, not annoying.

2.What was your first ever modem?

I don't know what that is. I don't get "computerland".

3. You find a credit card on the street. Nobody is around. What do you do?

I'd probably not pay attention to it at all. If I did, I'd probably left it were I found it.

4. What’s the most precious thing you ever lost, whether that be in terms of actual monetary value, sentimental value or the amount of work put into it, or its uniqueness?

Probably my first harmonica. I've always wanted to be able to play harmonica, then I bought one, played it on two or three demo recordings, and then I lost it somewhere (probably my ex-exs apartment). If we mean by "lost" "lost it yourself".
If by "lost" you mean "something important that is not longer yours to use", then I'd say "my childhood teddybear".
I called him "Blue" (as you can imagine...he was blue). I received him from by father (and actually he got that bear when hew was 3, by his parents), and when my sister was born I passed that teddy bear to her.

So now that teddybear was in our family for over 40years.

But I still feel cheated on by the world, that it's not my kids who will get Blue. IT'S MY SISTER'S.
I eel pretty bad I got cheated this bad.

5. How often do you virus check your computer?

Never. I don't get "computerland".

6. Would you rather have central heating, a gas fire, an electric fire or a real coal fire?[/QUOTE]

My dream world? A bonfire.
Right now? Central heating.

1. Do you bite, clip or cut your fingernails?
Fingernails & toenails attended to by a professional. Can’t reach my toes anyhow.
2. If you see someone being pursued by the law (and assuming it’s nothing to do with you) what is your first thought/reaction?
Glad they’re not after me.(considering what I’m often carrying. )
3. Name one thing that could have turned a “good” president (historically speaking - Lincoln, JFK, Clinton, Washington etc) into a bad one, and vice versa. In other words, in case you don’t get the concept, the single event or deed that could have defined their legacy in the exact opposite way it did.
Have to agree Lincoln’s approach to slavery stank.
4. If you were/are in the market for a new pet, how would you go about it? Shelter? Ad in the paper? Online? Pedigree purchase? Friends?
Shelter for dogs (see below), specialist retailer for tropical fish — but maybe they’re not pets?
5. You move to a new town. Driving or walking by a house, you see the word PAEDO daubed in red on the door. What’s your reaction?
Even if I knew the label was justified I’d be annoyed at the spelling.
6. If you buy something relatively cheap, either online or in a shop, and it doesn’t work as it should, do you usually send/bring it back or just shrug and say it was only a few dollars, I couldn’t be bothered?
Send or take it back, sometimes with a letter couched in threatening legalise.
