Every time I go to sleep.

The ****? You couldn't go with Tarzan for a more cookie cutter Disney movie?

Water

But if you're going for the second worst Disney Renaissance movie then you might as well go all the way. And yes, Meg was a high point, notable because of the movie's relative lack of high points. Even James Woods' awesome Hades, the best thing about Hercules, was still a cookie cutter version of Robin Williams' Genie.

So funny and tongue in cheek = ripoff of genie. Reminds me of whenever a modern comic book has a charming smartass, and someone starts whining about Tony Stark.

And tbh, Disney fanboys shouldn't even be allowed to say "cookie cutter". Yeh, it's about a good guy beating dem bad guys. If that was a problem for me, I wouldn't watch Disney at all.

It's fun, charming, has music and humor that is bearable for adults, and also has Danny Devito. Get fucked.

Edit: Plus, that hydra head chopping shit is like the most hardcore Disney movies ever got.

Charismatic, idiosyncratic funny guy who's clearly just a celebrity playing themselves to the point of breaking the 4th wall. They did it with Nathan Lane/Timone in Lion King and with Eddie Murphy/Mushu in Mulan, and I'm sure I could think up at least one or two other examples. After Aladdin Disney rode that dick hard, and Hercules was just another movie trying to cash in on the Genie magic. Not saying it didn't work, but by Hercules it was definitely part of a Disney formula.
