This. I'd never seen Sparky until that post. I felt if I posted something, it would come across as insincere.

But on the simple fact that, the he is a member here should make a condolence an easy gesture.

Yes I do, and even than I am rather apathetic(to a fault). It's a defense mechanism that I've built up over the years. If I never plugged and chatted with Paul I wouldn't have commented on his thread either. That's just who I am, not everyone views online relationships the same way. ATM, I have no desire to ever meet any of you IRL even though I enjoy my time on MB. I like everyone but I just don't get emotionally invested like some other people do. There is nothing wrong with that it's just not for me.

I'm not really all that comfortable with outward displays of emotion, let alone voicing them. In these kinds of situations in real life, I generally stay quiet in awkward indecision outside of extreme situations with people to whom my specific support would be truly important, so anything I said would just be me parroting what I thought was appropriate, and I'm even less comfortable with that.

Exact same here. Notice how my posts in Paul's thread have almost all been jokes. Don't really know how to give "nice" support, but our interactions have always been jokingly antagonistic, so keeping up the status quo is sort of my way of keeping things feeling normal.

I don' t see the point in arguing over, I just found it appaling the lack of acknowledgement.
You don't have to be emtionally vested in someone to order, to be kind.
We forget that behind these computer screens are very real people with feelings.
