I misrepresented the situation. I was sending the emails as per protocol, the instructions for the project stated to offer help to others once you've finished. Our department is rapidly expanding thanks to gavin's new budget, so I'm definitely not concerned about layoffs but regardless I know to keep my head down. Mine is a good problem to have I suppose, I'm sure there will be a time when I wish I had nothing to work on.

But OH re: your recommendations I actually did just join two internal committees that involve a lot more public outreach and self guided projects outside of my job description so really I just need to make it through what is apparently the slow season.

edit: also i have a volunteer orientation this weekend at the local rape crisis center. i guarantee you my next bitch in this thread will be about how i have no free time.

pretty much the hottest girl in existence took an immense interest in me the other day like you wouldn't believe. Constant heart melting eye contact. Then I had to go and be a dumbass and say that I was homeless, so she bought me a pizza before heading out and that stubborn part of my mind keeps thinking that she might have thought that I only saw her as a charity case. And now I'll probably just never see her again for the rest of my life.. Pussy loser over here.

My ex from back in the day liked the fact I was broke and lived in a **** area. Some sort of novelty seeking or something cause she was a spoiled art student.

She said something along the lines of "I think it makes you more of a real person" and I was like at least one of us gets to enjoy me not having any money.
