That's fucking ridiculous. I hope things turn out the best possible way for her under the circumstances. And I hope something truly awful happens to the sack of shit that did that to her. Hopefully a little of the bad karma will find its way over the landlord too.

I know. It's horrifying. It makes me feel sick tbh. Since the authorities aren't doing shit about it hopefully karma will get that prick, and the poor girl can get therapy/help/support from the people who love her. Just makes me so angry and makes me wonder how often stuff like this happens and goes unaddressed.

Is she in the sort of country where she'd be able to sue the police for negligence? Would she have a case for it?

She's in Canada, so yeah probably but I don't know if she'd have a case or not. No idea what the legal system is like over there. I also found out that the guy responsible is a US citizen so would it complicate things if Canada aren't responsible for him? I don't know. I think part of the problem is that the authorities are being really insensitive, when rape victims are in really vulnerable positions where most of the time they feel embarrassed or dirty about what happened to them so it's pretty difficult to talk about it. I hope she gets more community support or something and can sort it out so she just feels safer and more looked out for

I wouldn't think that matters. If he committed the crime in Canada he can be arrested, tried and convicted by Canadian authorities. I would think the only complicating factor would be if he had fled to the US and the Canadian government had to extradite him.

This is insane. So what, they cant test the guy because there is no evidence substantial enough to invade on his private life and test him? Is that right? So what actually does happen in these circumstances then? I assume this is the case because she cant tell them for sure who it was and actually accuse him of anything? How do they know who it was?
