The point I was alluding to is water isn't a hangover prevention. Dehydration is only a small part of the equation. Drink some pretty hefty amounts of both alcohol, and copious amounts of water both during the scenario and before bed, and the after-effects will be there in some form or another. But it does depend on your body makeup and the amount you drink, and how long your body has to filter all that crap out. (Which, while you're sleeping, is even less efficient than when you're awake)
All I'm saying is hangovers aren't simply dehydration, nor does water do anything extra except provide a basic necessity, no matter how much you've heard otherwise in the movies...
Have you ever been actually dehydrated, with no alcohol involved? I have. Spend a year in the desert at 140 F and you'll definitely become acquainted if you don't play your cards right. Anyway, it's not the same thing. And this is coming from someone who drinks a lot and has had many hangovers in the past. You're practically filling your body with poison. There's going to be both a mental, and physical repercussion. And it's not completely related to how much water you drank prior to sleep.
My original comment was saying: Maybe you're just not drinking enough, since it seems obvious that your body has no problems cleansing itself from the toxins without any ill effects at all, no matter how temporary. Either that, or you're superhuman, and hangovers have plagued mankind since the beginning of alcohol simply because all those people never drank water...
