OK so the guy sitting in the same room as me has flatulence issues. I'm growing tired of him laughing it off and thinking its alright to keep doing so. Thinking I might just have to take a steaming pile of crap on his desk to get my point across.

If it's new, it should be covered under the warranty, no?
I know it's crap but at least you won't have to buy a new one. How did you break it anyway? Damn things shouldn't be so sensitive... I can send you the loan of one if you're stuck, but I'd need it back eventually.

Yeah, hdd drives are mega-cheap now. I even bought a 2 TB one about six months ago, still in the box today, have never used it. I suppose I should, but then, it's another plug socket, another USB slot to be used up, and at this moment I don't really need it. Good to know it's there though.
What I'd do is get two drives (cheap ones like these)Toshiba buy at the cheapest price, best deals, online shop - Ireland, put a copy of your music on one, put it away, never touch it except maybe to update it. Then no matter what happens you'll always have a backup copy and you should never be without music again.

You could store all of your files and music on the cloud which is password protected and you'll never run the risk of losing them, even if your computer fries or breaks down. You'll be able to access your stuff anywhere in the world too. This is going to be what everyone will be doing soon.
