As I understand, he went to school in Massachusetts, so his accent would have been affected by that part of his upbringing. He doesn't speak with a particularly identifiable southern accent.

Texas accents aren't true southern accents. I'm not saying they aren't fun to listen to, but they just aren't real southern accents.

George Bush went to school... Jesus you learn something new everyday. I thought he was 'reared' in a cow shed!

Yeah, maybe people who talk like the toothless redneck guy from the Simpsons seem like that. But I think people who have a normal Southern accent aren't seen that way. At least they shouldn't be, because that's just prejudiced and stupid.

George Bush does indeed have a slight southern accent. But I don't think he should be representative of the way most Texans are.

He doesn't strike me as particularly bright, and it has nothing to do with this accent.

What the hell does that mean? Texas is a southern state, so their variety of speech is one of the southern accents. There's no getting around that. It is simply one of the southern regional varieties.

If I'm honest, no. I tend to find most American accents to be quite a turn off. I do quite like the New Zealand one though. But there's something about the broad pronunciation of As and other letters that tends to grate my wick. That said I could listen to Patricia Arquette in True Romance until the cows come home ...

Sorry for double posting, but I just saw this, have you ever listened to someone from Tyler, Texas? Those accents are wack.

lol yes, i dont think Americans have sexy accents at all. Up north around Boston they have a very strange accents i think its funny. In fact i know a guy from Boston and at first i thought he was possibly retarded because of the way he talked, turned out just to be an accent. The way the say 'car' is really funny
