damn...proved me wrong. good luck to ya, hopefully you can break that other record.

but yeah, that's gotta hurt that a year or two of college tuition was thrown out after some coffee stains.

I would have kept it...people buy grilled cheese sandwiches for thousands of dollars off ebay, a HP book with a spill on it would probably still get you a few grand.

I would start by contacting the auction house that sold the one in the article you quoted. Tell them what you have and ask their advice on how to proceed. They've already sold one or 20 grand, they should be able to give you some direction. A bit of legwork should be able to get you the contact info.
