You called classic rock classical music so really, your thread is invalid.

So? Who needs them when you have Zeppelin? You don't.

Bands like the Beatles wrote music that reflected on the times and their music influenced a lot of other bands. Metalcore is garbage and doesn't influence anyone so even mentioning the Beatles and metalcore in the same paragraph is totally unacceptable.
And you're being just as ignorant as him saying that the entire genre is garbage.

It's an opinion. You can stop trolling me now.

More people will agree with classic rock bands being an influence than metalcore bands. That was just MY opinion on metalcore because I don't like it. He doesn't have to like classic rock bands but he can't deny it's influence.

Well who needs Jonas Brothers when you have Radiohead?

Do you see what I did there?

There were no artificially created pop acts back then, but there were certainly similar bands and styles, there just wasn't anything else to counter balance it like we have today to show what crap it is.

Older music has survived through the times much like the way older literature has, mostly by popularity. Notice that the more popular classic bands you see today were the ones that were popular back in the day. It's the same big ones, The Who, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc. but you don't see a huge influx of younger people listening to some of the lesser known bands like Television or 13th Floor Elevators, that had a cult following when they were in their prime, still have now.

Classic music is Mozart and such. This would be classic rock, my dear Travis.

I think people are taking my Jonas Brothers comment a bit too seriously.

Quit arguing grammar. You know what he's trying to say.

My God, go troll someone else. You didn't say that when he was schooled by an older member.

So what you're really talking about is not so much "classic rock" as "rock music that's older than you". It's a weird perspective to have, that everything that was recorded before you were born is worthless. I can't say I've ever had that viewpoint. Even when I was younger and more narrow minded in my music tastes I still liked music that was older than me as well as newer music.
