Does Fl count? I thought Fl was more known for it's cuban/spanish cuisine than southern soulfood.

I'm making a butternut squash soup this week as soon as I have the freakin time.

1 - what is the point

2 - what do you use for the egg?

1 - delicious eggs without the pointless death of sentient, intelligent, self-aware beings

2 - eggs are vegetarian friendly. they are not vegan friendly.

veggie =
no meat or meat products,
non meat animal products in some case okay.
Some veggies abstain from dairy, ovo-vegetarian. Some veggies abstain fro eggs. Lacto-vegetarian.

I've had vegan "eggs" made with some kind of coconut and some kind of rubber plant (it's a type of plant you idiot. not actual rubber, idiot) and flavored with something similar to sulfur. It was surprisingly convincing but nowhere near as versatile. Can't bake with it, can only serve it scrambled or fried. Good luck tryna poach those ****ers.

I'd give it a shot. Maybe add some chopped nuts or something to the mushroom coating for better consistency.
