I'm not an epert in this by any means but certain musical patterns and beats stimulate and supress certain brainwaves. Some brainwave stimulation id beneficial to the learning process and some is detrimental. Classical music has been considered great brain food for quite a while.

so.... how is it that listening to beethoven makes you well over 100 points 'smarter' than everyone else, but listening to classical only gets you about 100 points from the bottom of the barrel?
