being in a car wreck (and subsequently dying in it).

I don't like seeing wreckage. I especially hate reckless drivers. I am an extreme "backseat driver" with some people just because my anxiety gets so intense if I'm not the one in control of the vehicle (and if they really suck at driving).

I'd also prefer death to abandonment.

Lastly I'm terrified of my father dying.

I think that about sums it up.

What did you do?
I only saw caught a glimpse of it as it crawled past my arm, and then it went over the side of my bed before I could get a good look at it. All I saw were those thick, segmented, black legs. Black Widow went through my mind but I really didn't believe it. Then I looked over the side and saw it on the floor all big and evil and Black Widowy and I froze for a good second before grabbing five or so tissues and crushing the **** out of it. It didn't even get hurt the first time, and I hit it good and hard so I had to just smash it. After that I tried to get to sleep with minimal success.

On a side note, when I Googled "wandering spider", among the things that came up were "wandering jew" and "wandering spider erection". Apparently wandering spider venom gives you a boner.

She didn't specify. Not my fault if she posts like she's on Thorazine.

They are certainly creepy little spiders who get a quick death when they crawl through my house but I don't believe they are especially venomous. The link between their bites and necrosis has also not been established in any scientific study. There was quite a bit of hysteria some years back about the white tail's bite causing necrosis but I believe it was mostly unfounded. Necrosis is thought to occur through local colonisation of the skin by necrotising bacteria with a bite or scratch providing an entry point for infection. Also as a hunting spider they eat Redbacks so that's a plus, although I don't believe you have to worry about them in New Zealand do you?

ha! good luck with that!

Plus I trust elevators in a 70th floor building much more than I do in a building that doesn't go up that high.

The elevators in those type of buildings are usually high tech and well maintained they have different safeties to keep the elevator from just plummeting.
