Lemme explain a little further. Its not about "spam" (not saying that stupid post was, it wasn't) as much as it's about ass-hole people. I didn't see the post Herm just quoted until now. CM is a fecking dick. You guys can have him.

 at the picture.

I was just trying to point out the absurdity in letting a stranger's comments on the internet influence our mood. If someone calls me c**t, tells me they hope my mother gets cancer, blah blah, I'd be a fool to let that affect me. It's just words, and words by someone who doesn't even know me. We should be careful in how much power we allow others to have over us.

If it's any consolation I don't look like a hippy, dress like a hippy, smell like a hippy. My home ain't decorated as such either. But deep down, yeah, I am a bit of a hippy, certainly in my philosophies. The love and peace stuff. It's a good goal I think. ;)

that's my point though. It's fine that you are so zen and above that but not everyone is the same obviously and you can't really tell someone how they should react especially when they are in the moment and don't want to take advice from someone else. They just want to be themselves and react the way the want to.

Mr. Charlie 11-04-2013 04:13 PM

Yeah, I see your point.

butthead aka 216 11-04-2013 04:28 PM

i know i wasnt tryin to call you out or anythin and i agree, its a great goal. but i do believe violence is necessary and maybe thats unfortunate but its just reality to me.

i look at it like this. if im a pacifist and im totally anti-violence, but theres a guy who is the opposite of that and is a psycho, then his violence is gonna trump my peacefulness in the fact that he is goin to kill me if i dont adapt and use violence myself

thats not a likely scenario but the way i look at it. i dont agree with the wars the usa has initiated recently, but was wwII necessary?? wwI? i mean sometimes i think violence is necessry especially as a reactionary measure.

and i cant stand hippies because i view them as ppl not in touch with reality. total peacefulness is somethin to strive for but will never happen. and im sayin that as, just because we dont achieve total peacefulness doesnt make the cause or outcome unsuccesful. strive for it, but dont get caught up in thinkin its a reality that will ever happen. too many psychos with different beliefs to be achieved.

Mr. Charlie 11-04-2013 04:33 PM

I don't think peace will happen either. We may have evolved into a somewhat more peaceful and tolerant species but, as the last century shows, our technology means we can inflict far more death than ever before. And as resources become ever scarcer and thus more valuable, I fear further wars, maybe even world wars, are inevitable.

djchameleon 11-04-2013 04:54 PM

Also take a look at your avatar. There needs to be some war/violence for their to be peace.

The two have to co-exist for their to be a balance.

Mr. Charlie 11-04-2013 05:03 PM

Sure. But we can choose our wars carefully. If someone breaks into my home to hurt me, steal my stuff, I'll react. If someone wants to pour toxic waste in the fields and meadows around my house, I'll react. But the trivial stuff takes care of itself. It ain't worth sweating.

*caveat*: I realise what's trivial to one isn't necessarily trivial to another. :)

Yes, because you directly insulted Sansa Stark. Insulting other members is a violation of our forum rules. The first rule, actually.

Scenario: My girlfriend and I went to Safeway and we were talking about work and some of the things that happened. Some lady behind us said "that's inappropriate" and "wow, that's disturbing". Keep in mind that I was not even speaking to her, nor was I speaking loud enough for her to hear.

Is it my fault that it was offensive? I'm seriously interested to know. Because I personally don't think it's my fault if some random lady decides to butt into my conversation.

I would have laughed at her and said "Excuse me your face is inappropriate. Can you keep it out of our conversation?"

I'm glad i'm not the only one that thinks it's inappropriate for her to butt into the conversation. That sort of thing happens way too often. If i'm not including someone in the conversations, they shouldn't be allowed to butt in by saying they think it's wrong or inappropriate.

Has customer service ever made anyone actually feel better about people? I know it made me think of people as almost sub-human things to be condescended to or whatever else it took to get them out of my face. No offence, but if I ever served you at Burger King then I probably wished you were dead.

90% of the shitheads I meet on a daily basis make me wish there was a new plague, but there are some pretty cool people that pass through (and though I want to strangle some of my coworkers, most of them are cool too).

some people have told me not to be "so negative" when I say I hate people, but when you've spent 10 years in retail, you sort of just want to slaughter them by the dozen.
