Bought a camping sleeping bag cause going camping has been a goal for awhile now and with a new, better paying job I figure it's high time to start getting kitted out to encourage myself to actually use the stuff.
I've had a cheap tent for years that I've never used and recently I found out cheap tents aren't necessarily waterproof so I'm waiting for a rainy day to set it up in the backyard and see how it does and if a new tent needs to be my next goal. |

Surprise surprise.
The last thing I bought was a two CD set from Lita Ford. |

That would indeed be the smarter choice than spending several hundred dollars on a "good" tent. So assuming I tarp up I guess I just need a sleeping pad unless you terrorists also have a better idea.
|
Better is subjective. I have an air mattress that I fill with a pump that plugs into a car lighter port, but they sell small, light, battery operated pumps too:
https://www.amazon.com/Intex-Quick-F.../dp/B07F3DNV62 It all depends on how heavy you wanna pack and how you plan on getting to your camp site though. An air mattress is bulky and heavy, so I wouldn't wanna throw one in a backpack and trek out on foot. The last couple two three times I've gone camping I got there by vehicle. |

Oh man, I know. I was kinda pissed they'd put it there, but I'm gonna see if I can peel it without destroying whats underneath. That one was only $5, so I'm glad the other $25 one is tagless. I guess the Digs Deeper issue is harder to find.

I miss Mad Magazine.

Mad and Cracked were my rags. It really does explain a lot with why I am the way I am.
Cartoons too. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/59/60...15574b2c85.jpg |
It was an easy peel. Unlike some of the tags the resale shops around here use. I think they do it out of spite.

Pack light, carry essentials. Godspeed.

Yeah my new sleeping bag doesn't feel particularly light but I'm a bigger dude so I need a bigger bag and I and a tosser and a turner so I'm not wild about mummy bags so I guess I have to live with a little extra weight for that.
|
I carried an extreme weather bag and a **** ton of accessories since I was 60 cal support in the Army and I'm a little under 6' and 200 lbs. You'll be aiight. Where you trekkin? Virginia area?
|
Yeah. General area of Virginia Beach. Would love to get out to the mountains in the western part of the state if I can get like a week off. I know we got Shenandoah National Park out there and it would probably be way better than a week-long staycation playing video games.

Do you mean it's just old?

It's like an old IBM.

Record the clacking and post it.

My aunt and uncle used to vacation there. A friend just came back from there.
Regarding sleeping bags, I bought a double sized bag. It's very roomy. |

They used to vacation in Virginia Beach. I don't know the area. I can't say if it was Shenandoah or not.
|
Virginia Beach is the eastern coast of VA around where I live. Shenandoah is in the west in the mountains near West Virginia.
|
Gotcha.
Well, whenever the passport office decides my kids will be worthy enough for renewed passports, we'll have two US destinations to visit. I sure hope everyone else doesn't have to wait as long for such things. I filed renewal forms in May. |
I now have a sleeping pad, so, already having a sleeping bag and a tent I shall wait till my next day off and set it all up in the backyard and see how it does. Kinda stoked for Saturday night.

That sounded dirty.

Recently I had an idea to explore the market and technology of “sleep headphones.” As my readers know well, the ambient segment of my archive comprises over 60,000 ambient tracks from nearly 5,000 artists’ discographies. I wanted a better solution to enjoy them while I rest.
I researched and invested in an affordable solution and surveyed my library of sleep-friendly recordings. Fellow sleep-listeners can explore the details on my member journal. https://i.imgur.com/RIcQgFmm.jpg |
This book
https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/...4,203,200_.jpg and this one since I've somehow never read it in full: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/...4,203,200_.jpg A portable roll-y back massager thing with a long handle that I'm going to use at work since I am on my feet bending every which way all day And this stupid dress which I don't even like very much but I unfortunately needed something cheap and last-minute for my boss/friend's wedding reception party this weekend: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/..._AC_UX679_.jpg It just needs something. going to have to pile on the whimsical accessories I guess. |
Okay so having a tent, sleeping pad, and sleeping bag is there any other necessity to start camping that you don't view as optional?
|
A flashlight/lantern (or both) and a pocket knife are necessities. Are you doing a backpacking type deal? A chair, cooler, speaker, and portable stove are good but too much if you have to carry them to the site.

Some good boots and extra socks are necessities if you're going into deep woods for lengths of time. Also some mace for Yogi and Boo Boo.
If you're back yarding it, then just bring some sandwiches. |
Add a folding shovel, toilet paper, and beer.
