Thank you and the other mods for explaining about the situation with The Unfan, since as moderators you aren't required to do so and all decisions are final. I understand that The Unfan was banned because the moderators repeatedly warned him not to break MB rules and you all wished he would have focused on, and taken responsibility for, his own actions rather than compare them to the actions of others who received bannings.

I was someone who was not welcomed by The Unfan with much kindness on MB, but I felt that after this first contact The Unfan and I reached the point of having respectful interactions. So, I do have arguments in his favor. Your question in bold above appears to be a challenge rather than a request, but if you or other moderators do genuinely wish to hear my full viewpoint on The Unfan's actions that I observed, please PM me. I understand these do not negate whatever he did to you.

Right-track, I wish you wouldn't call The Unfan an idiot and moron. I feel that the MB rule you describe--"While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks, trolling, or purposeless inflammatory posts. We reserve the right to remove offensive posts without notice"--is a good one because namecalling, even of past members, even ones who said awful things, labels people as if they had only one side, rather than acknowledging that a person's negative behaviors coexist with positive.

Big3, in case I am one of the decent and good posters you refer to, thank you, but I also want to explain that earlier in this thread I brought up the issue of The Unfan's banning, even before boo boo discussed his conversations with The Unfan. I brought up the topic because I miss what I feel were The Unfan's quality posts about music (though I don't miss the ones where he sounded intentionally mean). I was also concerned about how and why his banning was permanent. So, neither boo boo nor The Unfan dragged me into discussing the issue of The Unfan's permaban. I raised the issue independently and before they did.

Boo boo, I am happy to read about your and The Unfan's truce...and I appreciate your friendly humor about the whole situation.

Thank you for the long winded series of rather tedious posts you have recently made defending TheUnfan.
I read the latest of your instalments half heartedly and with complete disinterest.
Your argument for his defence would now begin to grate on my nerves if it wasn't for the fact that this subject has long since bored me rigid to the point of death.
However, your latest mind-numbing plea does allow me the opportunity to make a few points of my own.

Firstly, my remark; "Anyone else who wants to stick up for this moron" certainly wasn't a request, nor was it a challenge (despite your apparent 'understanding' as to the reasons he was banned) you seem to think it may have been both, or at least an invitation for you to bang on, yet again, about Unfan's well deserved ban.
Just to clarify, it was non of the above.
It was in fact an attempt to draw a line under an issue that had at the time gone on for far longer than was necessary.

So, for the last time;
The Unfan had recieved multiple infractions, PM's warning him about his behaviour and temporary bans.
All without effect.

Which brings me neatly to another point you made.
About me calling TheUnfan an idiot and a moron.
Anyone who can flame, insult and constantly harrass another individual and then have them champion their cause on their behalf is obviously neither a moron, nor an idiot...so I take that back.

It does leave me wondering who is though.

Despite your and boo boo's past problems with TheUnfan, I am warmed to the very bottom of my heart that both you and boo boo are now "having respectful interactions" with this particular and seemingly reformed individual. Good for you. :)
It's just such a wasteful and tragic shame TheUnfan couldn't have found it deep down within his enlightened soul to extend his new found charitable disposition to others here, especially the mods, before he was eventually banned.
I sincerely hope you continue to have respectful interactions with TheUnfan away from MusicBanter for many years to come.

For Christ's sake people is it this hard to understand?

I think that if there's any one member of this forum that has been extended an inordinate amount of patience and leniency it has been Unfan. The question of "why" in regard to his ban never crossed my mind, but rather "why did it take so long?". Anyone else exhibiting his behaviour would have been ousted years ago. There was nothing remotely unfair about his ban.

I would've liked the Unfan to shape up and stick around as I don't think he's all bad. But that never happened so I support the decision to permaban him.

Boo Boo dragged gunnels and mr. dave into this when he

a. didn't need to and
b. was wrong about his accusations.

Boo Boo, regardless of who started asking, is advocating for Unfan just the same.
