I kind of feel bad for appearing to be the one who started this thread. To be honest, I was posting in a welcome back thread and I was just pissed off because no one responded to my Railcars thread  But I am actively trying to make more meaningful posts; the problem is indeed not just new users but anyone who comes into a discussion like this band vs. that band and just lists one, absolutely no explanation of why.

No offense taken. The first post got pulled from another thread by a mod who I guess that I was unsatisfied. In fact I'd agree, I honestly don't think I've seen any difference in the site since I've been here. The above was really the only problem I really think that we have, and I'm sure I've been guilty of it. That, and the fact that this thread now has my name attached to it :(

It's all Urban's fault.

You know its occurring to me as I poke around this site that the quality is actually a constant.

The discussions we've had here are/were meaty and they haven't gone anywhere. When new people come to this site they have an ocean of debate they can swim through.

If you really wanted to, you could come here and pick up where folks left off. The originator may have left but for the most part someone can pick up where they left off.

The idea that the quality is decreasing - in my late night cursory opinion - is that its not the regulars that need...enhancing.

After re-reading what you said I must agree to some extent. I havnt been here since the beginning but long enough to gauge Musicbanters members and mods. I think it should definitely be a more active forum to keep from getting stale (as it has, and why I havnt logged as much). Now by active I do not mean number of posts, but having members that do more than just posting.

For instance all the people that contributed in the song contest, Jackhammers compilations, and the people like ToreTorden who go above and beyond posting monotonously.

Eh, just think about what I said I guess if your a so-so member. The amount of real support for this forum compared to the members is sad.

So people should write more interesting posts. And because no one is writing interesting posts, you haven't logged in (or written quality posts?). Explain that if you would.

Also - Whats sad? I don't see what you're getting at there.

More effort should be put forth into album reviews/compilations/songwriting. I may not have been posting but I have still been reading the boards.

It is sad that so many of the reviews and stuff mentioned above are so mediocre.

Of coarse do not take this personally, its just my humble opinion of some members on here. And normally I keep my mouth shut, but this thread actually asked.

yes but Dr. Seuss has written MANY timeless classics. Tom Clancy has yet to write anything worth reading.

The Lorax would wheeze in near the top of my book pile, I doubt I'll every read anything that will make such an indelible impression on me.
