why all the rapidshare hate? more often than not i can find what i'm looking for on rapidshare, either through various forums or just with google.

hint:

[artist] [album] site:blogspot.com
and yes, i have a premium account. 7 euros per month is a very small price to pay, especially since i can download from them at 4 mb/s.

for rare stuff, i use waffles (private tracker). you can find anything there, and it's usually offerend in flac or at least 320/V0. it's a last resort though, because it's hard to keep a good ratio with so many damn seeders...

Isohunt, Extratorrents, Piratebay, Mininova, BTmon

best way? type whatever your looking for followed by the word torrent into google. For example;

"The who discography torrent"

you'll get a whole bunch of torrent links.

who ever used demonoid anyway? it always sucked.

- awesome out.

What's what.cd like? I've hearded loads about it but never actually been able to use it (I think you need an invite).
You do need an invite, I don't personally use What.cd so I've never seen the actually site, but like I said I know plenty people who swear by it. There's a what.cd group on last.fm that might help out whoevers interested. I told Schizotypic I'd ask around for him too.

Lets take today, I wanted all five Simon and Garfunkel albums... now I have two options- 1) download via public torrents (which are usually crap), or 2) Search raidshare/mediaupload/blogs for all five one album at a time.

I'm not saying I'm unhappy with these methods (it's free music!), but rather that I'm unhappy with them just in comparison to demonoid- and that life without it's magical torrents makes me realize just how much I really am going to miss it.

This post has been in loving memory of our beloved demonoid, may she rest in peace always... or better yet come back.
In that case I usuall would just google "SImon and Garfunkle discography rapidshare" if that doesn't work I'd take out rapidshare and try megaupload or mediafire.

And the only reason I use stuff other than mediafire is because sometimes I can only find it through megaupload/rapidshare.

I went to Wiki and found their discography (Simon and Garfunkel's) and used mediafire to get it album by album.... only took four or five minutes and mediafire let me d/l them all at once. Still, demonoid was rad.

I never got around to trying demonoid although I had always meant to. Why'd it close down?

Honestly the only thing I find rapidhsare has over sites like Mediafire is that you can upload more than 100 mb. Other than that the waiting is annoying, the download time is atrocious for non members, and quite frankly there's far superior upload sites. It perplexes me why that site is as popular as it is, because I honestly think it's a steaming pile of excrement and will often times upload things I've downloaded from there just so people aren't forced to go to that site.

it's a vicious circle. rapidshare was the leader for many years, so that's where links are, so that's where people buy premium accounts, so that's where they upload new content...

but seriously. 7 euros a month. take a sandwich to work instead of going out to and you've got it covered. no wait times, fast downloads, and support for download managers.

Luckily there's a lot of electronic music forums based in other countries. That's where I usually go. 4clubbers.pl, just4music.eu, and then also soundarea.org but that also has other genres.
