The thing I have always found is that when I have money, I can easily spend my time NOT spending money and still enjoying myself. Sports, beach, movies, chilling to tunes with mates, all that sort of stuff. However, when I do not have money, I find myself trying to go out more, getting fancy dinners (ie actually going out ) etc.

Either way, money is overrated in relation to having a good time.

You should try a sober night on the town. It makes for an interesting kinda social experiment, and sometimes you can actually have a really good time, especially if you can coerce a mate or two into doing it with you. Just spend the time you'd otherwise use for drinking talking to randoms in the smoking areas, dancing (needs good music for that to work with me though, and it's painfully hard to find the stuff in any club) and so on.

Often it sucks, but it's an interesting thing to go out and try.
