You've probably never been in a situation where you don't get to choose not to fight or don't even get a chance to talk yourself out of it, but they happen.
A fight is an exchange of blows. There are plenty of ways to physically control someone withouut fighting. What if that person had a knife, and you couldn't get away? An exchange of blows just wouldn't cut it. There are other ways of ending a fight by controlling the attacker.

Yes. There are, but that's not the point. Do you agree that sometimes you have little or no control of whether or not you end up in a fight?

I agree, but 99% of these situations can be walked away from, unless your backs against the wall. Most people fight because people are around, and thats pure egotism

Well, I think 99% is an exaggeration and your previous post said this :

.. Which is basically insulting all who have been in a fight - not because they chose to, but because they were forced to defend themselves. The point of the replies was then "but if you're forced to defend yourself, does that mean you're stupid?" Of course not, so the message of your earlier post should be modified somewhat.

I actually disagree with you, I think if you can fight, you sometimes should. I've thought about when I have kids of my own, I'd hate it if they ended up being pestered in school. Bully kids who prey on the weak are not smart, but they understand someone being able to fight back and maybe even kick their asses. I'm not gonna teach my kids that fighting is good, but I'm definetly gonna teach them to not accept bullies walking all over them and that depending on the situation, they can or even should fight back.

I've been in plenty of them, for a large part of my life I did not control my temper, and some points I could get aggravated to the point I would snap and black out and not be able to control myself. This is very rare for me now, I learned to control that nonsense a while back. I'll only get irritated with people now, rarely ever angry.

I really hate the way girls fight though, mother****er you scratch me or pull my hair I'm gonna punch your tits up to your damn throat... but I've had my tussles with boys mostly.
I agree with all of this.

I had to learn to control my anger a few years back.
It's now very rare for me to snap.
Girls fight like ****ing sissys.
Pull my hair and I'll just do away with you, you deserve it for fighting like a ****ing jessy.

I agree with this. Being an academic person, I definitely try to stick to logic. I am quite a pacifist. On the other hand, however, studying science and truly appreciating what it means to be human also involves embracing certain instincts. Fighting and physicality are just as much part of being human as understanding psychology. More so, in fact. If the world goes to **** and we all have to fend for ourselves, guess who will be on top again? The fittest.

It usually consists of me hitting someone repeatedly and just that, but one guy got back up once....scary moment, luckily some alcoholic i used to know called Wally jumped in and put him to sleep before I got a chance to see if he'd be the one to give me a right pasting. Wally went to jail 2 weeks later for setting another bloke I knows house on fire. He was an odd bloke. He won't be out for a while now.

I don't know about that, it's not really that hard to avoid a fight. I've spent a lot of time hanging out at bars and clubs and whatnot and in my life, and I've managed to avoid fights entirely. Honestly, I think it has as much to do with the attitude you put out there as anything else.
