See, this is why I think animals are often more intelligent than humans. Animals care that you treat them with love. That's it. We humans, we get hung up on politics and philosophies, taste in clothes and music, and other trivial matters. Not having a go at you by the way, I too let stupid stuff colour my opinion of others.

I think I can relate somewhat. I have a deep love and appreciation for classical music, and one of the only places I can talk about it is MB. Because there are a few like minded people here. My friends like classical as well, but nobody wants to have conversations about the great pieces and the history behind them, or the Common Practice Periods, or the significance of Bach's death, or anything like that. So I went online to seek out people who would enjoy those conversations and from whom I could learn and be challenged. That's what brought me here initially.

Well, I could bang my head against a wall trying to find people in real life who've ever even heard of Electric Wizard, let alone Reverend Bizarre or Saint Vitus, or I could cut my losses and go where there's a legitimate chance I can actually find like-minded people. Whether or not it puts me in a bubble is sort of beside the point, since, at least when it comes to music, I'll be in a bubble regardless of where I go.

Idk it just always seem that people that are into history only like what's on the surface and only like the superficial things associate with certain periods of time and/or a decade. They don't really like history to go deeper and see what is missing from the history books they have learned from.

While the Eurocentrism of the American education system (and Europe I'm assuming) can be annoying I see nothing wrong with history as a self-indulgent hobby. My minor obsession with feudal Japan has nothing to do with learning lessons from history, but I still can't help but be fascinated by Ieyasu Tokugawa, and Yukimura Sanada, and the Battle of Sekigahara, etc. Now who's a nerd talking about **** nobody else cares about?

I think you are assuming too much. I mean those bands are hardly in the upper echelon of popularity even as far as 60s/70s music goes (im not familiar with Strawberry Alarm Clock). Dont get me wrong it would be nice if more people I knew were interested in the music I liked, but im not gonna scoff at people for not loving black metal or krautrock.

Most of my friends have vastly different tastes in music than what I really love and Im glad tbh. Although Im pretty easy going with music anyway and im usually down to listen to whatever. But i dont try and force my music on them. Its pretty easy for me to have common ground with anyone so i roll with that.
