Bull****. All the discussion of the voting system has been so that more people can weigh in on the voting, not less. The idea of who is going to win hasn't been even mentioned.

Theres also the fact it forces people to reconsider their vote at least once, which means more thought goes into it.

On top of THAT, its easier to pick from a small pool of nominees than it is to pick from the whole userbase over a year. You end up with people who didn't nominate anyone, but who will still vote once they see a category contains someone they like.
Sorry but I'm still unconvinced. All of this just sounds like making something that should be relatively simple into something overly complicated.

2 rounds isn't complicated. We draw up a shortlist, we vote. Its hardly rocket science, and relying on people to follow this thread day in day out in order to catch any nominations they didn't think of, and then change their own, is just ridiculous. People won't do that and its silly to run things on the basis that a select few might do that.

First of all, thank you to those who have nominated me. For those who don't know who the hell I am, here's some of my underrated shit.

As to the nomination vs. voting issue: Personally, I would have only voted in the final voting round because I just don't know enough to compile a list of nominations. I can only do a few but since this may be my only chance then here goes..

Smartest poster PAVEMENT SAW. That's right. Who else without 10+ years of experience on her can form a one-line witticism like she does? Nobody. Plus extra points for creative use of vulgar words

Best Journal Aural Fixation by Gavin B., naturally

Biggest music nerd bob.

Funniest member Urban Hatemonger. When he's on he's fucking on

Honestly, I think the only person who has cause to complain is the one who's doing all the work so we can have an event like this, and this year it's Mojo. Nobody who has been making suggestions has been focusing on who wins what. All of the suggestions have been made to include more people in both the giving and receiving ends of the awards.

I agree with Pedestrian. Collect the nominations, then have a vote. People may change their minds when they see nominees about whom they forgot while making their own nominations.

However, I do agree with those who say the voting doesn't *really* matter; this whole exercise is more of a way just to recognize people for their contributions to MusicBanter. Thank goodness "most boring member" is gone this year!!

Really, I'm quite touched by that, Big3. Who would have ever thought that YOU would be nice to ME?!? *I* sure didn't!

I agree with Janszoon and mojopinuk. I think we should count the nominations as votes before we move onto the voting round.

I use both, I am a fan of 'twat'.

But I like to use cunt now and again, to mix things up.

Why not? Because you saw me rage all over the place and thought I was a bastard? Prejudice is a hard thing to chew on Vegan - maybe you should swear that off too.
