well the what's up or how's it going is just part of the process of attempting to be friendly and interested in what's going on the person's life before you ask them or talk to them about whatever you really wanted to talk about.

Sometimes I remember what they say because a conversation might start up based on that answer but if it's just the generic "i'm fine"/"i'm good" then it's just to be pleasant/nice.

that question is so meaningless to me that when people ask even if I'm having a ****ty day i will just say I'm fine and if I want to talk about it I will but if I don't want to talk about how ****ty it is to a total stranger. I won't.

I have a slight bit of OCD when I'm supposed to do something

like if I need to call a client or the opposing lawyer, I need to wait until exactly the dot before I pick up the phone

Ha...I do this sometimes too. Then, afterwards I wonder "What just happened?" But, yes it helps the accumulated frustrations to come out.

I've noticed I had more of these totally nonsensical quirks when I was younger, like when turning up the volume on TV it had to be on 5, or at least some odd number; checking about 100 times if my wallet is in my bag when I'm out etc. I can't even remember all of them now because I totally lost them, to the point that I will now sometimes forget to bring my wallet when going out. I have become more disorganized. For example, I'll make a list of things to buy and then I will not bring that list with me. I do this every time. I guess that's my new quirk. I honestly cannot decide which is worse, being too neat in certain things, like I was before (which kind of brought unnecessary pressure on my mind) or being this disorganized and absent-minded. It's liberating and frustrating at the same time.

But, I do have one annoying relatively new quirk that I can't get rid of. Before going to sleep, I check about ten times if the entry door is locked. And then just as I lie down in bed I get up and check once more. I do this every night.

There was an actual perceivable graduating envelope of sensation, all lasting a mere second. Like an upward ramp. The perceived physical location was more centered in the brain, but we don't have sensory receptors in our brains, so I would venture to assume that the phenomenon lies in something a bit more esoteric than a sensory receptor being involved... directly anyway.
Interesting either way.
i've actually had this happen to me... physical zap, ramping up, experience of a physical sensation in a place which science tells me there can be none. honestly, i thought i would have a stroke very shortly after that. it's like the zap was on an elliptical orbit and happened probably 20 times every 30 or 40 seconds. it almost hurt but not really, cuz i wasn't even sure if it was real. really startling though... also happened while on psychedelics.

I cannot eat from a plate or spoon unless I have checked it to be clean. I have to check for any stains and whatever. Suprisingly, I can go without a shower for days, i am not a clean freak, i just hate eating from dirty things or drinking. I also find it difficult to drink from bottles someone else has drank from. Obviously this doesn't really apply to a girl i might like or when i am drunk.

I also always go back to the automated teller machine each time I withdraw money after I have walked out of the bank to see if the "need a receipt" screen is still there for fear of somebody hacking my account

I always press the outer sides of my wrists against my hips to crack them, its sort of weird.

If I'm nervous I always pop my dodgy left shoulder out and back in, its disgusting so I cover it with my hand. I never realise I do it til afterwards.

I always stroke the short side of my hair. Its awesome.

I always have to turn my radio up in even numbers, nearly crashed once trying to get from 15 to 14 .

In work I don't trust the cleanliness of the glasses in work, so I wash the pint glass that I use everytime exactly 3 times. No more. No less.

I ALWAYS fidget, I can't sit at peace.

I also always twitch my legs.

When I'm swimming I have to swim in sets of 4 x 25m, or 10 x 25m. No inbetweens. My last set is always 4 because there's 64 lenths to a mile, so it used to kill me not finishing my 10. So I swim in 4's alot now.

If stuff is lying on a table all messy, I'll leave it messy but square everything up to the edges.

No matter what the car, I take it on in my 1.3 fiesta. Not racing, I just like to be the first to pull away from say traffic lights . If I don't I feel quite inferior/deflated/empty. Weird.

When I'm eating my dinner i never sit on the couch. It's always the poofy or the floor.

I have tons more silly little quirks. But... I can't be arsed thinking what they are.
