You cannot vote for yourself, if you do I will discount your vote.

Sansa Stark 02-07-2011 01:27 PM

The Accidental Abortionist has to be Sara (ThePhantasio). Excellent writing, very well paced and I loved the alliteration.

Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra 02-07-2011 02:18 PM

Note: Good tip for anybody. Always paragraph, and never have more than one person speaking in a paragraph. Makes it hard to read otherwise.

Scarlett O'Hara 02-07-2011 09:29 PM

I can't believe I missed out. Damn life. James there needs to be more of these competitions it's a fantastic turn out. I am looking forward to sitting down and reading the submitted work.

djchameleon 02-07-2011 09:57 PM

You are such a slacker, I didn't think you were going to get yours in on time. Procrastinator :P

ThePhanastasio 02-07-2011 10:25 PM

Really enjoying these - I've read six of them in full so far; five more to go, and I'll be able to vote! (Although I'll probably re-read a few)

Good work to everyone. Really, wow!

djchameleon 02-07-2011 10:28 PM

I have about four more to go but I have read some really nice ones already.

Queen Boo 02-08-2011 01:51 AM

Did not read all of them yet but the one about Dracula was the best written so far. Hands down. I think Lyrics is Storymilo's and I think The Inbetweeners is Stone Bird's or UnchainedBallad's.
Lobsters.....god man.......

ThePhanastasio 02-08-2011 06:22 AM

Finally made a decision and voted, but I was immensely torn between three of them. There wasn't a bad one in the bunch, though!

i didn't submit anything but i thought about it but i just got lazy but i probably wouldn't have sent in lyrics, i was thinking about sending a short story. maybe even the one i wrote in 4th grade about hip hop leprechauns, though there was a million grammatical errors in it. i also have one from JH about talking frogs and a mysterious forest (this one was actually written in a more serious fashion). And then i have a bunch of excerpts from books i've started but never finished, a lot of people say the first couple chapters i write are good i just never really write beyond that don't know why.

The Fascinating Turnip 02-08-2011 08:19 AM

Read them all and I'm quite at a loss regarding who I should vote for, I'm torn between a few.
I think Lobsters was quite good, but it feels a bit out of place here. I think it deserves more credit than it'll get.

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

storymilo 02-08-2011 03:17 PM

Is there a list of contributors? I feel like if we're going to do guessing, it makes sense to have that.

Myself, I've read about half of them. Will vote once I get through them all.

James 02-08-2011 03:21 PM

Stu
Storymilo
djchameleon
Conan
UnchainedBallad
Exoskeletal
Jack Pat
Tumor
Skalijurah
The Phantasio
Bulldog

FaSho 02-08-2011 04:02 PM

Can I make guesses? Or should I wait until after the voting, so as to not skew the results if I'm correct.

Go ahead.

FaSho 02-08-2011 04:04 PM

Stu - The Case of People with too much time on their hands
Jack Pat - A Journey of our Life
djchameleon - Bill
Conan - Lyrics
Tumor - The Day I Went Insane
Skalijurah - Dracula's Division
Story - Lobsters

NumberNineDream 02-08-2011 09:02 PM

I have to admit that I clapped at the end of "The Accidental". It just seemed like it was written by my favourite playwrights... brilliant.
Specially that it's very hard not to fall into pretentiousness while writing this kind of plays.

Anyway, only read the first 4 and needed to take a break after that one.

djchameleon 02-09-2011 02:22 AM

James, if you do this in the future. I think the guessing part should be done after all the votes are completed and the poll is done.

Bulldog 02-09-2011 07:46 AM

Good turnout for this one. If you're thinking about getting another one of these going after this one's wrapped up Jim, consider me up for that one too.

Anyway, I'll get reading...

edit: this Dracula's Division one seems like the work of a Mr.Unchained Ballad.

Excellent work, whoever wrote it. It's gonna take something spectacular from what I haven't read to top this...

Thought so too, reminded me of Stephen Fry's "The Letter" segment. A segment Hugo is quite fond of.

Yeah, it reminded me of Fry too, a little bit of Monty Python to the thing as well. I'll be very surprised if it isn't our lad who wrote it.

By the way, 5 down, 6 to go, so I imagine I'll get my vote in sometime tomorrow.

Nah, makes it more fun and who will be immature enough to change their vote?
And I am planning on repeating this as it has went well, I will enter next time too.

Queen Boo 02-09-2011 03:58 PM

I'm really surprised that Dracula's Division wasn't Conan's.
Just seemed like him I guess.

storymilo 02-09-2011 04:02 PM

I don't think Unchained Ballad wrote Dracula's Division. It's certainly possible but my vote's for Stu.

Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra 02-09-2011 04:04 PM

I'm honestly not big on the guessing. I mean, the anonymity was put into place to make it so who wrote the work isn't a factor on your judgment, not as a means to make it a guessing game.

Does it really matter? If you're going to change your vote because you don't like someone then I personally wouldn't want you involved. Also, the outcome of the competiton isn't important(you get a little respect and maybe a sheesy online trophy if you're lucky). This thread is about feedback and sharing, not fighting over who is better.

Queen Boo 02-09-2011 04:10 PM

You've got a point but doing the big reveal all at once would be pretty cool.

James 02-09-2011 04:12 PM

Dracula's Division was Unchained Ballad btw. Y'all better change your votes ffs.

@_@

whateva y'all.
EDIT: Could vote Dracula's Division just because Jimbo got a bit sassy but would rather finish reading them and come accross as a coldhearted bitch if I vote for one that I like more.

someonecompletelyrandom 02-09-2011 05:51 PM

I wish I could have contributed something more substantial to this thing but time has really been getting away from me. I may not read these in time to vote but I'm very much looking forward to them ^__^

djchameleon 02-10-2011 03:29 AM

okay so all of you fans of The Accidental. Can you tell me your thoughts/interpretation of it?

As I was reading it, the bickering/banter annoyed me and all the talk of existentialism bothered me as well. the more and more I read the more it felt like it was going nowhere. Then we get to the end.

Spoiler for The Accidental:
Then we get to the point where it is revealed through the story that the man is possibly the doctor that gave someone an abortion. Since there is only the female, I had to assume that it was her. The child was supposed to represent the aborted fetus? The way the female character was written I didn't feel like she was strong willed enough to go through with an abortion so that didn't make sense to me.

Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra 02-10-2011 09:59 AM

I was between two. Didn't vote on it, but I really liked Path of Consequence. Obviously, somebody has a thesaurus ;).

Sneer 02-10-2011 10:18 PM

Some of this is brilliant. I'll have to think on my vote.

Exo 02-11-2011 06:24 PM

When are we announcing a winner?

Yup, I could've done better. My editing was a bit shotty.
