What Kind Of Cellphone Do You Use?
I will preface this by saying that I have been a wireless consultant since 2007, and I am huge a tech geek. I love all things that pertain to cellphones (It's what pays my bills). So let's compare and contrast our mobile devices!
|
I personally use a 32GB iPhone 4. It is a GSM version that runs on AT&T's network. It has a 3.5'' capacitive touchscreen, a 1GHz A4 processor, a 5MP rear-facing camera, and a VGA (640 x 480) front-facing camera. I'm running iOS 4.3 (build version 8F190), and don't plan on jail-breaking it anytime soon. I've got around 100 apps installed. I prefer this device because it has a large capacity, friendly user interface, lots of available apps, and a fast processor. It is quite convenient to have a media player, web browser, e-mail, GPS, compass, calendar, note pad, voice recorder, calculator, clock, etc. all in one device. I keep mine in an Otterbox Defender series case.

****ty walmart prepaid phone.

Errr, first cellphone was a motorola back in 1999.
Had a lot of crap (3310, Some Toshiba, an 'OEM" motorola), then a K750i from Sony, A Nokia E65 and now an E75. I'll probably buy a Se-X1 from a friend. Will borrow it for a week and see if I like it. If I do, I'll take it. |
i'm using Nokia C3. it's not the best, but i can use it for calling and texting and saving contact numbers and there's some games into it as well, i'm satisfied with a cellphone like that.
|
I'm using an old Samsung cameraphone that's about 3 years old now, and until the thing falls apart in my hand I don't feel the need to change it, as it still does everything I need it to do.
That's right, I'm one of those A-to-B dullards... |
I've got a blackberry Bold. I probably would have got something cheaper but its really the only phone I could find where I could really customize the font size and stuff.I don't know how people are able to use those touch screen ones.

Blackberry Bold 9780. Its such a sexy phone, its hard not to feel like a badman when you take it out of your pocket lol. Its nice to get instant notifications from facebook, twitter, emails as well as the usual texts and calls. And of course BBM is a great feature. As long as my phone is by my side there is no reason I cant reply to any message within a few minutes these days tbh. The camera is pretty awesome too, 5mp autofocus with a flash as well. And it can take a 32gb micro sd card to double up as an mp3 player as well.

iPhone 4 (32GB). My first smart phone, picked it up in December. Prior to that I was using basic clamshell phones but the last was a candybar with a slide-out qwerty, great for texting.
|
Oojay, I can't believe you work in the wireless business and you own an iPhone 4. Wow that's all I have to say to that.
right now I have a Motorola i776 but it's on its way out. I have had it for a little over two years and the speaker decided to blow out in the head piece part. I guess the flipping over time caused it to blow out. I'm saving up for a Motorola i1 or I might get the Atrix 4G once it gets released. |
I have a BlackBerry Curve 8900. Either getting a BlackBerry Torch or an iPhone 3 with my upgrade soon.
If their service was halfway decent here, I'd go for a Droid. Verizon has awful coverage here, though. |

My second cell was a RAZR. I liked everything about it except for the side buttons which didn't lock. They'd be pressed in my pocket or bag and mess my phone up! I remember we also had a Motorola car phone when I was a kid: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_fzs1OBs77Z...aTAC+8000X.jpg |
I have two phones at the moment. My main one at the moment is an LG Optimus GT540 with Android and a touch screen that I got a few months back. It's an alright phone although it does tend to restart itself occasionally for some reason.
http://www.mynextfone.co.uk/assets/n...e-launched.jpg The other is a Nokia 6300 which I've had for nearly 3 years now. It's a very good reliable phone so I decided to keep it and buy a new SIM card especially for it. http://st2.gsmarena.com/vv/pics/noki...6300-black.jpg |

some cheap Nokia - 2330, I just checked
i'm not into all those funky what have yous - all I need it for is calling and texting |
A cheap red Sony Ericsson.
It doesn't have a lot of memory. Seriously, I've only taken like ten pictures and it's already full. |

I would recommend staying away from the Motorola i1. It is only running Android OS 1.6, and will never get any updates. Also, the iDEN network that it runs off of has one foot in the grave. The Atrix 4G is awesome (it has a biometric lock on it), but I've had several returns on it lately, with most citing that it freezes up and stalls too often. |
I have the iPhone 3G. I've had it for 2 years now, so I am eligible for an upgrade. I'll probably get another iPhone. My friend has an Android, and it just doesn't appeal to me.

Edit: just saw oojay's post. I have to agree there. |

I have the Rumor 2 which I only use for texting and calling. Not paying 15 bucks a month for internet service when I have access to an actual computer.

i have the nokia E66 . i love it!!

And I would stay away from any iDEN phone (they're model numbers all start with an "i" followed by some numbers.) They run off of the old Nextel network that Sprint purchased years ago, but they don't utilize any of Sprint's towers (which are all CDMA). And Sprint is truning the iDEN network off at the end of 2011, unless they can sell it to T-Mobile (which doesn't look very likely at this point). If you are looking at the Motorola Atrix, you might also check out the HTC Inspire. The Inspire has a bigger screen (4.3'' vs 4.0''), same speed processor (1 GHz), same OS (ships with Android 2.2, later upgradeable to 2.3), and a better camera (8 MP vs 5 MP). The Atrix also has MotoBlur, which most people tend to get tired of after a while. |

As for my apple rant well here I go. It all started when i was looking for mp3 players at Best Buy one day years ago. I put up an iPod next to a creative zen player to compare the video demos and iPod's video quality was just not up to par. So, I'm like why the eff are people paying more for something of sub quality? Oh that's right because it's popular and Apple likes to boast that they are user friendly. Bleh whatever I want quality for my money. If you are going to rape my wallet at least give me top notch quality. Ever since that faithful day, I have been anti-Apple. Then it ventures into the whole idea that Steve Jobs doesn't want to allow flash on iPhones and I hate how iTunes is instilled into everything and I just hate iTunes in general. **** paying a dollar for each single. I bought a zune and I'm happy with their zune pass even though I do download with torrents and mediafire from time to time as well. I just hate how apple products are so restricting and there isn't too much wiggle room for customization. I would NEVER buy an iPhone, iPad or anything of that nature. I will always look for a far superior product. If I wanted a tablet. I would get a Xoom, far superior than both the iPad and the iPad2. |
The reason they don't allow flash is because it's so unstable. Flash is fucking up my computer right now actually! :D And the reason they aren't customizable is all because of design. The more options there are, the higher the chance is of something going wrong. It's also pretty pointless. Back in the day I used to think the same way. I hated that Facebook wasn't customizable, and that Myspace was. I can't change my background? I can't edit my profile? This is shit! You could do anything you wanted on Myspace! But once I learned more and more about design, I realized why. Apple's design is unbelievable. Their stores, their products, their packaging, their advertising, etc. I think that's why I like them so much! It's the designer in me.

On a side note, all of the WebKit browsers (including Safari on the iPhone) are going to start incorporating "Walaby," which will automatically convert most flash files into HTML5, thus letting it be displayed on your iPhone. Quote:

What is your opinion on those? I haven't done much research on them. I just know that they use the zune software and can access your account. |

I will probably go with the HTC Arrive. I have had good experience with Sprint in the past. |
I use a Samsung Gravity. It's just a standard talk/text phone with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
|
I'm testing a Sony Xperia X1 from a friend right now.
If I like it, I can buy it. It's working fine, except for the internet which is really slow. Can't see why...
