I didn't know that... that's a real shame, I loved all of his literature, obviously Fahrenheit 451 is for me one of my favourite novels, I think almost in some ways a better dystopia than "1984". However you're right in saying that he had lasted very well, and he's made the most of his life.

Unfortunately some of his later writing was terrible but still, through his old age, he wrote. A lot. Definitely a life well spent. RIP indeed.

Incidentally, I spent a lot of the last year watching 'Alfred Hitchcock Presents' on netflix instant and was pleasantly surprised to find that some of them were adaptations of Bradbury's writing, and Bradbury wrote the screenplays for some of them. It happened a couple times that I watched one and thought "wow, that one was especially good" and then saw Bradbury's name in the end credits. Exciting.

Not the best way to be reminded that I ought to read more of his stuff. Love Fahrenheit 451 :). RIP.

i only have F451

i read "The Martian Chronicles" quite some time ago and remember zilch about it

The Martian Chronicles was made into a film of a couple of parts back in the 1980s and starred Rock Hudson, I don't remember too much about it but remembered that I enjoyed watching it.

Rodney King died today from what looks like a drowning. Probably not a big deal to some, but I lived in L.A. around the time of his beating and subsequent lawsuit, LA riots, etc., all of which were huge news and are still pretty vivid in my memory.

If nothing else he deserves respect for calling for an end to the LA riots, rather than encouraging them, even after being brutally beaten by the police. R.I.P.
